Question 12a Needs a new exhaust.. and i need some help!

Hello! Its me again, and i need some help with this exhaust.. Now, its obvious to me that this pipe is out of place, and there is no cat converter, which is ok, but the pipe was installed poorly and it is far too low to the ground (it hits when i back out of the driveway). Now, i need to replace it. The muffler is ok for now, so i just need to put something in place of that large, long pipe in the picture. This is my first RX7, it is an '84 GSL with a 12a. I've been trying to research different exhaust systems and parts, but i dont know what i need to purchase. Especially since i know very little about exhaust system parts in general. I would like to keep away from using the catalytic converter and it would be nice to have a high performance exhaust. What parts do i need to replace this ugly thing, and where is a good place to find those parts (for a reasonable price is possible)? Thanks!

Check out www.racingbeat.com

Almost anyone on here (including me) will highley recomend a Racing beat exhaust, hands down the best bang for your buck. Will last for years upon years as well.

Unless you buy the whole exhaust, it looks like you are going to have to take it to a shop at least... that pipe is supposed to have a bend in it that I don't see, as well as a couple more break points(ie. flanges). I don't have a RB exhaust, so I don't know how it hooks up to the old system, but its something I'd check into.

Get a header and run strait pipes with all of the stok bend point and break points. Its a little loud for me (only a 20 yr old stock muffler on it) but it will help if you ever need to add a cat or presilencer.

peace

If you don't have to worry about smog testing in your area, do what everyone else said.
