Question 12A Maximum Potential?

I hit 140,000 Miles the other day, and have decided its time for some engine work before things start going wrong. This place called McNair Auto is down the road and they work on TONS of rx7s, so im going to take it to them. Point is, besides a rebuild and porting, what can i do to increase HP and performance? I really dont want to put a 13B in there, too much of a pain in the ***, plus i dont race, so its not that big a deal for like 50 HP

Someone on another forum said that he had the most powerful non bridge ported 12A, putting out 215 or so HP at the flywheel.

In the early 80's when Mazda-backed teams raced peripheral port 12As, they were getting 300hp, then they were brought down to 280 by intake restriction, but one team gained the 20hp back by squaring off the top (closing) edge of the intake port, which I understand tends to reduce apex seal life. Must find the book...
