More details on the car and it's history will help, i.e., mileage and maintinance. One of the most common problems, and the 1st one to check is the fuel filter.

well i just took out the bird cadge and still the same problem the od. dont work and it has a full tune up ie ...plugs wires cap ff.. but i am thinking its the carb cause when i lift the backend up and put it into drive it runs up until i push the brakes and when the wheels stop the motor dies soo it dies when a load is on the motor
OK, let's try this, a little more explaination and fewer abbreviations, i.e., what is the bird cage, the od, and ff? Does the car have an automatic? Little details like this make trouble shooting easier.
Did you check/replace the fuel filter? While this may seem silly when compared to a piston engine, it's a big problem with rotarys and our old and rusting tanks. The oem pump, when new, is barely adequate, any type of impediment to it's operation compounds the fuel issues.
While your main problem may be the carb, it's best to address all of the other potential problems before tearing the carb down for a rebuild.

Odometer was my first guess, but then when I saw somebody suggested overdrive thought maybe that makes more sense...
So at what rpm is the car idling when in park/neutral?
p.s. bird cage
