12A intake manifold won't dislodge (4 12mm bolts & 2 14mm nuts removed)

On a 1985 GSL parts car with the Nikki and the ACV already removed, I attempted to dislodge the intake manifold from the engine after removing the 4 12mm bolts toward the ends and the 2 14mm nuts down under. No luck. I didn't get too energetic--didn't want to do damage if there is an easier way. Working from the passenger side, I tried to pry at the left end of the manifold casting (that is, the end nearest the firewall) where there is a gap between the manifold and the block. I didn't have anything that would give me much leverage though--no hammer either.

Is there a trick or a key pressure point? Just a bigger pry bar? Or BFH?

Thanks.

Sounds like its just really stuck on there. Should only be the 4 bolts and 2 nuts you mentioned holding it on, I say just give it a bit more force. The gasket is probably just really stuck on there...

Hit the intake with a rubber hammer and it will come off

the two center ones are 12mm's, they are right above the exhaust which are 14mm. could be a typo, or something, so i'm just double checking

I just read this good, Sounds like you removed the 4 outer 12mm and 2 header nuts?

D'oh! That looks like my problem. Looks like I got 2 exhaust nuts and left behind the 2 intake nuts.

I was expecting to find & remove 6 fasteners all 12mm. I was a little surprised to find the lower middle 2 needed the 14mm socket. I even had a photo of a detached intake manifold to show me where the fasteners were located but I was in a rush at the time.

Going back in.

Thanks for clearing things up!

Went back. Located the 2 12mm nuts that I missed the first time--right where they were supposed to be. Removed those and the intake manifold pretty much just fell off. Worked out great. Now I know for the next time.

Thanks everyone.
