12a GSL Warm-Up and Oil Pressure

How long on average does it really take to have a 12a warm up?
The gsl takes around 15 minutes.

Does warming up have any relation to oil pressure?
When the GSL starts up the oil pressure is around 50/60, and we have to give it a little gas. Once its around 30psi it will hold its own idle, and then slowly it goes down to about 2-5psi.

When you blip the throttle does the oil pressure come back up, or does it stay real low?

Wow. My oil pressure never goes below 30 psi. At least, I'm fairly sure it doesn't. 2-5 psi seems WAAAAAY too low to me. Piston engines usually don't go below 5 psi, and I would imagine that rotary engines would require a higher pressure.

But, rotaries are still new to me, so I might be wrong. All I know is that that psi seems quite a bit low to me.

5 psi IS TOO LOW. Only time I had 5psi is when I ..... ahem......didn't change the oil in a year and .... ahem ..... it thinned out to the point it resembled kerosene! Good old cheapo college days.

The pressure changes with my RPM just like on my 2nd gen. Idle is about 5psi, normal cruising is about 30psi.

Way too low.....I think RB states that Idle oil pressure should NEVER drop below 15 psi. Most people here have around 40 psi cruising, and around 55-60 above 3k RPM.

Now, you may have good oil pressure, the gauges are notoriously inaccurate, but check the pressure with a screw-in gauge tool to be sure. I'll bet the fitting is 1/4 NPT.

Yeah, stock gauges blow. I have a stock gauge and pressure usually doesn't go above 40 psi no matter the rpms, yet I have a GSL-SE oil pump, a 3rd gen oil pressure regulator, and no oil leaks anywhere.

Mine reads about 70-80 psi cruising at 70 mph, 3500 rpm.

Don't mean to steal the thread but, is it overly dificult to change out the stock gauge for a more reliable one?

no, it isn't. Do a search and you should find data on it.

mechanical gauge will give you more accurate pressure.
