12A complete rebuild?
I was given an 82 gsl from my grandmother, and it has been sitting in her garage since the early 90's.
The brakes/suspension/exhaust are rusted out and need to be replaced. The engine has 80k miles on it and I'm guessing that the housings are in good shape.
If I find out that the engine is a loss and needs a rebuild I would rather find a 13b (or 20b!!! yeah right -.-) to put in its place, but assuming it is ok, what needs to be done (besides the rats nest fellas) to make it run?

Assuming the 12A is OK? I'm going to guess that your grandmother bought the car new and still has the owners manual in the glove box. If so, dig it out and perform all of the scheduled 30/60k maintenance. While you're at it, in the FAQS, read the link tiitled, 'Bringing a RX7 back to life', along with all of the carb threads in the FAQs.
You don't need to do anything with the rats nest to make it 'run', but you may need new vacuum hoses. It can be removed if you so choose, but with only 80k, you might think about keeping it bone stock instead of modding it.
Welcome to the forum. In my sig is a link to the online FSMs, carb manual, (you'll need that for sure), and other rotary related reading. Download the 85 FSM along with the one closest to your year. The 85 is more complete and has better pics/diagrams.

Taken straight from the FAQ:
Q. Do you have an Rx7 you're trying to restore? A seized engine? a car that's been sitting for a few years? Wondering what the "ATF Treatment" is and how to do it without killing your engine?
A. Look here: Bringing a RX7 back to life
