What tires for stock 1985 12A?

So I recently acquired a 1985 Mazda Rx-7 12A that was abandoned and has been sitting for 5+ years. Car is pretty much stock. All 4 tires are completely shot, 185/70R13's on it. I thought I'd just go ahead and put some brand new 185/70r13 michelin's on it but I was told that that size is discontinued and im finding out tires are actually a bit hard to find. I dont plan on modifying the car a whole lot (a least not for awhile). So what would be a good basic everyday tire? I do live where the roads are a bit curvy so I'd like something that handles decent. Are there alternatives to the 185/70r13 that would work? Any other brands out there besides michelin that have proven to be reliable and well-made?

Thanks in advance for any advice you can share!

I just went through this. I ended up getting Zenna Sport tires. No idea who really makes them.

After I purchased these Zenna's I found these on eBay.
185/70-13 FALKEN SINCERA SN-828 70R R13 TIRES
$265.00 FREE SHIP

The Zenna's seem ok but not like the old Good Year GTs I had on there.

I've got the Falkens on my car right now. They are decent tires but seem to wear quickly. They look like they are barely going to make it to 20k miles so I've been looking for replacements too. It also looks like Falken doesn't make that size anymore and what is being sold is remaining stock. Tirerack offers two different Kumhos in that size and I was leaning towards trying one of them.

All the tires you can find in 13" like the Kumhos, Zennas, and Faulkens are basic all weather tires.
I know some folks that run the Kumhos and like em. They are not performance tires at all.

The only way you can get nice performance tires is to go to 205/60R13 in an RDOT like Hoosier
or Toyo, which run about $150 per tire.

For a streetable 13" tire you are indeed limited the all-weather tires which will perform fine for most applications. If someone wants high performance street tires they need to go to 15" rims which are also limited in selection unless you get adapters or convert your car to SE suspension. Running a track tire on the street is not the best idea in the world IMO.

Grab 'em. Your choices are _very_ limited on the cheap end.
Vredstein makes prob the best 185/70 HR but you are looking at close to $170+ per tire via Summit Racing.

The Kumhos are sold by tirerack and the price isn't too bad.

not sure how long you are willing to wait, but I think it is worth it to find someone who is selling a set of 15" wheels with or without tires. that way you have tons of options.

It doesn't much matter. I'd look at them all and buy the one with the most solid looking outside shoulder. That's what will give you best turn in. Beyond that, I can't imagine being so much difference. And the all season crappo tires will be more fun and make you a better driver, truth be told.
You're not going for lap times, are you?

As I understand it, Federal makes their 595 tires in the 205/60r13 size. I think they're only available from Legends car dealers in North America. They're supposed to be fairly cheap, grippy, and last reasonably well.

I plan to buy a set of them when spring rolls around.

I've got a set of 185/70/13's on factory "plus" rims that I polished, since the clear coat was peeling. The tires are like new with maybe 4,000 miles on them. I switched to 15's so now they're just sitting. Let me know if your interested.
