$45 well spent

Well I think we all know that it sucks to have to use vice grips to kept the hatch up. I finally shelled out the beans to get new hatch struts and I makes a difference in just how I feel about the car now. No more hunting threw the tool bag for the vice grips.

I think AutoZone sells them for 30 bucks a piece and Advanced Auto sells a pair for 40 bucks (USD)... I might be wrong about the price, but I know the ones I got are working great--they've held up well and feel like new even though they are about 4 years old.

Ya My first FB had bad hatch strutts ('85 GSL). I just made a pole with a notch in it to hold the hatch open. It was a bit of a pain, especially when my GF droped the hatch on my head. So I went and bought another RX7 with a hatch that stayed up

I just put working hatch shocks on mine this weekend. I got them from Wam for $25 shipped (for both). I agree, made me feel much better about the car!

Try finding used ones that work, you'll have money.

wam is a person on the forum who sells stuff... look at his rating in the good guy/ bad guy threads... I'm not having much luck with him. Hoping it's stuff that's beyond his control, cause I haven't heard anything else bad.
