You'd think Hayward would be proud of such an acomplishment and They'd have it posted on their website, but it's nowhere to be found.

LOL! I still don't believe it... That manifold wouldn't work on that engine. The posted video says it's a 20B. . LOL! You fell for internet hooplah. FAIL!

^ check the original thread, this motor runs and their are several video's of it running with the same intake...
This is the first time someone made a 3 rotor from renesis parts, so don't expect the guy to find off the shelf parts to make it work... all the manifolds had to be custom, so the pic above looked like it was still being sorted and lined up..
I also don't see the sarcarsm or the need for "lol" in your comment
Lets see your custom 1 off 3rotor mr funny guy

Yes the Renisis in the RX-8 is still a 13B. Yeah it's kind of funny to watch some of these guys not understanding the side exhaust port. Anyone have one of the rotary keychains that spin? If you look, it's modeled after the Renisis as it has side intake and exhaust ports

What Mazda *should* have put under the hood of the 8, in my opinion.
The renesis treatment should be done to the 83-85 based 12A, and paired with a lighter chassis based on the 1st gen miata chassis, under a 1st gen RX7 "inspired" body. Considering the number of 1st gen RX7's that sold (nearly 500K in North America, alone) I doubt they would have trouble selling another small, light, nimble rotary powered 2 seater.
The 1st gen RX7 met with as much approval as the 1st gen Miata, largely due to the similar traits of the 2 cars. Neither were really "Fast", nor "Practical", but that sure didn't seem to deter sales. It also seems that both become favorites among the racers, as a cheap, reliable car to build into a track car.

I agree, RW. I don't understand this addiction to 300 hp 3000+ lb luxury beasts the car companies (even Mazda) are hooked on. Makes even less sense today than it did back in 85.
A renesis'd 12A in a Miata chassis under a 1st gen retro shell coming in under 2,500 lbs would sell millions. But maybe some of those folks would have bought a Miata?
And not to get off topic, my own opinion of that three rotor renesis is that it's just plain silly AND ugly. Might appeal to racers and tinkerers but I'd never own one. Can you imagine the gas mileage?

RX for fun

I have my bro's 3-rotor RX-3 SP for over 2 months now and I have been driving it every weekend on a +/- 250 miles round trip. It aint bad on gas at all and in fact, it uses less gas than my RX with IDA's.
If you have a 4banger like a toyota corolla, you have to bury the gas pedal to go 90mph on the freeway (imagine it with 5 passengers). Now, compare that with a V6 accord in the same scenario,. Which one will perform better with less gas consumption.

I agree with Rogue on this but I'll show my dream of how it should be. Entry level should be the RX-7, basically a coupe version of the MX-5 with the Renisis. Then comes the sport saloon RX-8 with the new 16X in it and a re-tuned suspension. Then comes the big daddy, the RX-9. It would be a 2 seater version on the RX-8 platform with a 16X based NA 3-Rotor. I think this would be an awesome line up but it's nice to dream

That's kinda what I've thought, all along. Of course, keeping it under 2,500 lbs would be tricky, with all the required safety crap the feds want these days. ABS, Air bags all around, stability/traction control, Ect all add weight. Then throw in the nav system, and blue tooth ready toys, stereo and sound system toys and the added sound deadening, and the 38" wheels (ok, I'm getting *slightly* carried away here) and they'd be lucky to bring it under 3,500 lbs.....

lotus found a way i am sure mazda could too. AS ray can tell you its not short on anything inside the cabin except carpet and pedal room lol!
Meeting U.S. crash standards required the addition of airbags and other safety features that add weight. But Lotus knew that even sports car fans in this country would have trouble giving up comfort for the sake of extreme performance, so the U.S. Lotus Elise comes standard with air-conditioning, antilock brakes and a CD audio system. But don't look for stability control or power steering on this sports car. Lotus was willing to bend, but not break its "simplificate, then add lightness" rule for American tastes by keeping the U.S. Elise's curb weight under 2,000 pounds. That made it easily the lightest performance car sold in this country.

I think I'd leave the transverse Toyota boinger in this one, much as I hate boingers. The Lotus actually has a lot of room for the driver and passenger, once you wedge yourself in there. And it is very nicely appointed. I'm pretty scrawny but I'll bet I could lift this thing up by the front bumper. Looks like it at least:

lets not forget the 50's model 250 tr12
i am sure this car clocks in way under 2,000 to bad they cost about 8 million!
Of course my heart lately has been for old vintage racers might be time to get into a class for vintage. Dont think the 7 is old enough though!
Ray you should jump back there in the boot next time if he lets yah and take a pic lol!
