Small world, the rotary community is.

The kid I bought it from was nice enough and I didn't press him on details or commitments as far as the condition of the car since at the time I was just buying it for parts and he was moving out of state the next day. And it was a mess when I got it, as you can see from the pictures back at the beginning of the project.

When I started to look more closely, I realized it had a practically new set of Yokohama Avid Touring tires on a decent set of rims (underneath that black paint that I removed) that will go right back on the car when it's done.

Even better, there wasn't a spot of rust on the body anywhere. I've worked on and disassembled 4 different FB's over the years and this was the first one that didn't have a single rusted or frozen bolt, not even those little 10 mm bolts that tack the heat shielding to the underbody were rusted. That's when I decided the car deserved a complete make over.

The only disappointment was the engine, which he said still ran strong even though it had 200,000 miles, and it probably did. I decided to tear it down without trying to start it, hoping to get a good rotor housing or two, but they were worn pretty thin by all that mileage and had some minor flaking.

All in all, a good deal for $200, I'm not complaining!

So there is a Rotary God. And he lives in Brooklyn.

I was just about to go SE, 13B and FI (https://www.rx7club.com/se-sale-want...y-obo-1012185/), gonna hit the PayPal button, ditch the Nikki's and the Mazda Blue air intake when this showed up in the mail:

Here it is matched up with my one good 12A housing:

The dude paid the shipping.

So there is a Rotary God after all. And he lives in Brooklyn.

Mr. Rotary God, here's hoping your electricity is on and your basement isn't flooded.

Thank you for saving me from the 13B FI temptation.

Amen.

Your generosity is incredible Colin, after all the time and effort I've put into trying to find a decent 12A rotor housing, without success, to have the perfect unit show up unannounced in the mail yesterday just bowled me over.

In fact I'd pretty much given up on the idea of rebuilding a 12A and was just about to buy the wrecked SE in the link and do a complete SE swap into the White One II project. I was literally going over to the computer to make the paypal payment when I found your surprise package.

Its Karma, I tell you, this car is just oozing Karma.

Thanks for your generous contribution! Back to Plan A. 12As Rule!

Turns out you live just 8 miles from my daughter in Brooklyn, when I visit we'll have to get together. In the mean time, you have an open account with my parts shed, just let me know if there's anything I can return the favor with.

lol...that housing came from an engine I had taken apart maybe 14 years ago. I was in a similar predicament back then even with trying to find a good pair of housings to build a engine for a starlet that I was determined to auto cross. Well that car came and went, I got out of rotories for a while and it sat as a display piece (thats why it was painted). Your dedication to the 12a is inspiring and I am glad to help. The housing isn't perfect, but certainly good for a build. Good luck with your project, I am anxious to see it come together. Look foward to meeting you if ever you come out to Brooklyn.
