What would you do?

So long story short, I walk out to my car day before yesterday to tinker with the carburetor again, trying to get it to atleast idle a little less richly. I notice on my drivers front fender that there is now a new addition to my car, a foot long deep gouge in my new paint.

You can imagine I am pretty pissed.

Go out there today about 15 minutes ago and notice, hey. My car is unlocked. My door is half open. And i DISTINCTIVELY remember closing and locking it.

Now I am beyond pissed. This is the second time my car is being broken into. Once at work and now at home. Is this **** ever safe?!? Why cant people just leave stuff that isn't theirs alone? I never drive this car at night being that it is so loud, and whenever I do drive through the neighborhood, I never break 3k rpms...

I mean seriously, what the $%^& is wrong with people these days?!?! Now I have a four pack of Red Bull and a real bad temper. Tonight I stay up and catch these crooks.

What would you do.

Wow that's a nasty one. I'd like to say it's just one of life's hassles, like the 10 ft. long, 40 lb. tire tread that took out my panel and hood last year. (The tow truck driver's who threw the tread saw the whole thing, they were sitting well off to the side of the highway, so they wouldn't get hurt if there was an accident. But somehow I don't think that will help much.

Stu, people can be shitty. You are better than that. Try to find out what happened but keep your head. And move away from that neighborhood if you can.

Sorry to hear about the damages, that car is to nice for that stuff.

I have really contemplated selling it lately. This car is too much hassle to be having. I would rather get this miata this guy has been wanting to sell me.

At least there'll be less exterior damage if a Miata is broken in to.

I don't know what I'd do, honestly. I know I'd be really pissed off, but when someone else crushed my front passenger side fender had someone asked me what I would have done, I'd have said killed the person who did it. When it happened though, I just tried calming down, and as punishment to her, I never had sex with her.

Which I thought about doing all kinds of degrading sexual things to her (the whole reason she was in my car in the first place was a mutual understanding that I would have sex with her because I needed sex, and she just really wanted to have sex with me).

I later found out she had std's. Really makes me glad my friend didn't go after he once she was drunk.

Build your own anti-theft system with a generic car alarm's horn/siren positive 12VDC wired to a flammable-fluid compatable solenoid, and compressed butane or propane (LPG) plumbed into the normally closed side of it. Plumb the outlet of the solenoid with hard line and mount it under the driver's side door, and splice into the same +12VDC wire that triggers the solenoid and power up an extra ignition coil, with a plug wire leading to a spark plug mounted about a 1/4" from the hard line's end. May be kind of hard to picture, but you get the point. When the alarm goes off, the solenoid opens, dispensing flammable liquid through the hard line. The coil (assuming it's wired correctly) will generate power to the single plug, igniting the liquid and crippling would-be crooks. I've seen similar devices that are actually being produced in other countries to prevent car-jackings, but would be an effective theft-deterrent if used very carefully. It would have to be easily disabled for me to think of installing such a device, but if you're having problems with thieves...Fight fire with fire...

^+1 thats awesome, you just need a controlled measured amount to do the trick, not to torch your car aswell. lol that was too funny.

Sucks, man. I had almost the exact same thing happen to me. The 7 was freshly painted and I was out of town (with the 7) to go to a training for work. I come out of the hotel on the last day to find my driver door popped open just a bit. My first thought was maybe I ddn't shut it fully, but I was pretty sure I did (always locked it too). I open the door and I see the glove box open, everything thrown around the car. I looked around and said "Okay, everything looks like it is here". Turned around and my speakers were gone. They were just some crappy 6x9 in boxes. The thing that really pissed me off it that they put big gouges in the back were they tried to pop open the hatch and big scratches on both B piliars were they tried to jimmy the locks. If the knew 7s, they would have known the driver keyhole is probably worn out and could use nearly any key to open it. God, I hate thieves.

Best of luck to you, man.

Great idea, but you need to have something to keep triggering the spark plug instead of firing it once. Not sure if the coil will keep it lit or not, I dont know the schematics

it wouldnt be that hard to make the care more secure. the easiest would be to get a locking cover.

The coil will keep the plug sparking because you're not using a distributor cap to control the spark. All the electricity from the coil is being directly transfered through the plug, so the overall power of the spark would probably be lower than a normal spark in your engine's combustion chamber because the coil doesn't have time to re-energize between loads. If the right flammable liquids were used I believe you could create a functional system ignited this way. The coil would be wired the same as any regular ignition coil, with +12v and a ground in their respective places; only the +12v trigger would come from your car alarm's +12v output in this application.

If you were try to use some type of splitter into your factory ignition coil I believe it would add more resistance before the distributor or plug and ultimately be a problem in the long run. It'd be best not to chance ruining the coil and immobilizing the vehicle. You'd have to have huge ***** to actually do that and risk your car and life over it if it's a poorly designed system, or you'd have to be nuts to pay somebody to put your car and your life in jeopardy by installing a system like this. It feels good to think about when you've been ripped off though...
