From the ad, thats a clean looking SA inside and out. I'm kind of partial to blue and personally believe that the Daytona cars are more rare than the Spark yellow ones. I can't confirm it, but I know back in the day I saw many more yellow ones vs. blue ones. And the Spark cars were not that common to begin with.
Anyways, in excellent running, original condition, I'd think the car would be worth 3-5K. It is a GS, with a claimed 77K miles, a rare color AND the original owner. The only less than optimal thing (besides the engine problem) is that it is an automatic. But like 13X said, fairly easily changed if desired. I have a bone stock 80 automatic that I like just cause it is different. But if I only had one, the 5 speed would be the way to go.
As she sits, you'd have to assess the costs to fix whatever problems it has (an actual inspection is the only way to really do this) add those to what you can get it for and give it a sanity check. You can probablly add another $500 for the needed 5 speed conversion parts. (tranny, clutch, flywheel, throwout bearing, pedal box, master & slave cly, hard and flex lines, driveshaft, starter, interior shift surround) Oh, and as DD can attest to, search for years for a decent 5 speed shift ****!

^I'm inclined to agree with you. I've seen several spark yellow cars at meets over the past 12 years or so, but I've never seen a Daytona Blue car, and have only seen 3 in pictures... Too bad it's so far away or I'd get it lol. probably much less rot than the usual **** I work on lol

The daytona blue color is really fragile from what I've seen. I know someone that has 2 of em
and they both are good condition cars but the paint is faded significantly. Most I've seen have
the fade issue. This one looks like its in great shape on the paint.

odometer says 77k, but its on engine #2, and it does indeed run on 1 rotor, so while under the hood is well kept (NO leaks, its clean enough to have a light snack on), mechanically its actually had a lot done to it.
the kicker is that some knuckle head offered $1500 for the interior, so his asking price went from $2000, which is the most i've ever paid for a first gen, to $2500.
for that you can buy NODE's SA, which is an early build car, with 100% original paint, not as nice an interior, but it runs and is on the original engine, and have $1500 left over to spend on hookers and beer, or whatever https://www.rx7club.com/1st-generati...black-1036486/

Assuming it would take $2,000 to rebuild the mechanicals and $,2000 to purchase you'd be in for 4K plus hauling and still have the cosmetic issues you revealed. A sanity check back to my original 3-5K estimate for an excellent running, original condition car, starts to push the enevelop of sanity. This is where it comes back to how bad does the buyer want it vs. how bad does the seller want to move it.

I think the days of $1000 SA's are dwindling, unless they are piles. Thanks for checking the car out. Sounds like it has more of a history than first let on. I hope he realizes that even if the kucklehead comes through with the money for the interior, he'd still be left with $1000. of metal parts to sell off to get back to the $2,500 asking price.

but yeah, like i said i offered 2k, which is a LOT. i could go pick up NODE's car for half that, and it runs...
