what kind of car is this?!

so we moved into a shop and this thing was across the way. ive seen a TON of exotic and rare cars (the montery historics is local), but ive never seen one of these.

i peeked inside and there are no numbers/badges or ANYTHING that would ID it. and its just the body, no frame/engine interior

it is RHD, and looks english to me, maybe late 1950's early 60's, but its not an MG/Triumph/Austin/Aston/Jaguar

so WTF is it? there's no wrong (or right!) answer here, i don't know what it is either

Maybe a variant of the Sunbeam ? (think sunbeam tiger) : a small english made, MGB sized car with small block ford V8 came out same time frame as the original cobra did.

Arrrgh, should know this, it's so tantalising. Sure I've seen one before but just can't put my finger on it....that rear screen's so distinctive, looks a lot like a Jensen 541 but the front's wrong and it doesn't have the fender strakes. Front end looks more like a Sunbeam or maybe Bristol? Grrrr, got a mission now lol.....

I'm voting it's a modified 56(i'm really betting it's this one), 57, 58 studebaker. I know it's not an exact match, but it's pretty damn close. with all that bondo you see there who knows?

I was thinking that too, but it appears to be a metal body? Kit Cars are usually Fiberglass?

i still say it's a morretti but it's been modified a little so it's hard to say. as a side note, it is very difficult to find pictures of some of the different models they produced since they were all hand built, low run, italian cars from that era. but you can see too many similarities between some of the pictures i did come up with for it to be coincidental.

i just can't seem to find one of those late 60's early 70's pictures of models possibly with a longer wheelbase. the roadsters had a longer wheelbase and larger rear wings but nothing with the 2 combined into one model/pic.
