What have you guys paid for starters?
I called around to a few places today, and the prices blew me away. I was expecting somewhere in the $100 range.
The local Mazda dealership want's $177 with the core, and NAPA wants $270 and you get a $20 discount with the core. The other shop I called couldn't even get one.

napa.com and napa.ca are completely different. Napa in canada sucks and overprices everything. Also they don't carry most of the parts listed in napa.com and if they do it's the most expensive ones with a markup in price. Canadian napa =

Yeah, you can't even search for parts on napa.ca. Napa's stuff is usually pretty pricey, and sometimes they cant even get what you want.
There's a good "mom and pop" mechanic shop around here that I like to go to, and they can usually get what I want for cheap and fast. But they had no sources on starters.

There are no pick and pull style junk yards around here. And they usually crush cars that are older than like 10 or so years. I bet if I call all the junk yards in my province and ask if they have any first generation RX-7's, they'd laugh at me.
I have 2 starters, one that I know is toast and the other has a busted solenoid. So I may buy a solenoid.
If not I might have to take you up on your offer aws140, thats really kind. Might end up sending you a money order with a little extra something for your time.

Seriously, an alternator shop. Itll be like 120 and you get some back for core.
I dont know what area you are in otherwise i would do a superpages search for you

I've gotten lucky at the local pick-n-pull. i always go treasure hunting and buy for the future. Last year I scored a factory rebuilt alternator and on another trip a rebuilt starter. I had a Saturn i was selling and scored new pads for $2, you just never know.........

I have a starter for you
If you need a starter I've got a bosch starter purchased at napa. Its new, and was never installed, 90 dollars (u.s. dollars) and its yours. That would include shipping, hell if you let me know within about 30 minutes I can have it in the mail today, and you can pay me once you get it if you want. Just let me know.
