That's more than I have. I've got nothing coming out of mine. Still have yet to troubleshoot it.

Got nothing done as a friend came over to replace a tensioner arm and serpentine belt on his diesel Jetta. He's happy that the sound of angry squirrels is gone.

I might try to tackle my stereo tonight. I really hate having *nothing* in the car.

You're already outperforming the real-world 'safe' range of the original Nissan Leaf - - and significantly out-styling it, too.

Let's not even mention the Chevy Dolt.

Thanks mate, that was a very usefull tid-bit. Finally got around to doing it, yeah the tab slides out to manually operate the solenoid. By the time i sprayed some wd40 thru the body of the solenoid and jiggled the plug a bit - hey presto it's working again! I can also open it manually by feel without taking the interior trim panel off now that iv seen how it goes! So, thanks again peejay!
Also, finally figured out how the little spring that opens the flap goes. When i dismantled the car a couple years ago for paint, i forgot how it went back on. Little things!

Not what I expected

I filled the water in the battery... WAY low. My hubby noticed that the negative post of the battery was scarring the hood of the car when it closed... HE turned the battery around. I tried to have a girlfriend help me bleed the brakes some more and that didn't go well.

I tried to tear into the transmission tear away, and got stopped by lacking adequate 14mm tools.

I thought I would verify the motor is original as the previous owner stated....... POW! the numbers don't match! Is that why I get the wrong parts?!&%$ I am beside myself.

Have you tried using a one-man-bleeder kit? Its just a bleeder kit with a one way valve in it. Works a treat iv never had a problem with it. Works the same as speed bleeders but cheaper and available at any auto parts shop, (in aus at least.)

I haven't heard of it, and I may try it after... One more pass with my hubby (that went pretty well). I've read that people don't like to enlist the spouse for this task... MaryAnn demonstrated the frustration. I thought it would be a nice friend task...

We're still friends.

JNC is short for Japanese Nostalgic Car. It's a website/forum for vintage Japanese cars. I follow it a lot even though I am not signed up there.

Everyday they post a little article about vintage cars and shows. then the forum is from Mazda to Mitsubishi owners projects.
pretty cool.

Diagnosed AC issue...no freon. Pressurized system at 50 psi steps from 100 to 300, and sprayed soapy water on all fittings and compressor...no leak found. I'm going to assume its in the evaporator, but didn't uncover it to confirm.

Plugged in all the stereo equipment - turned it on aaaaand .... blew several fuses.

Replaced the fuses, added some relays, fixed my wiring, turned it on aaaaand - MUAHAHAHAH its alive!

Stock head unit, 2x aux inputs (1x powered iPhone connector, 1x headphone jack), 700w RMS 5-channel amp.

Painted all the screws burgundy so when i re-install the interior it will be gorgeous! Started re-installing the interior and guess what - its looking gorgeous

Also installed a new hatch seal weather strip. Just the sunroof and passenger window channels to go then the whole car will be fresh.

Went to give it a spin around the block (that 700w amp will drain the battery quick) however my fuel pump no longer works tired and done for the day - tomorrow will check the relay and wiring.

This concerns me a little. I can't remember if there is a difference in your model year as far as the battery mounting goes. But if the negative post which is normally towards the front outside corner (at least it is on the 84 and 85's) of the car with less clearance is hitting the hood and you flip it around you now have the possibility of the positive post hitting the hood. If that happens you will get sparks. I have seen holes punched in the hood and welded hood hinges if you get a positive post strike. This is why it is important to make sure the battery is the correct size with the correct terminal orientation and the hold down stuff is working. It is also important to make sure the boot on the positive post covers the metal. I replaced my battery a few months ago and the book they looked it up in had the wrong size battery listed. The correct one was less expensive and fits perfectly. The cross referenced battery was shorter and may have weighed less but the hold down fittings didn't work and I think worse the post polarity was backwards.

On bleeding the brakes. If you are getting good clear fluid with no bubbles there may be a problem somewhere else. Perhaps a leak somewhere or the master cylinder is in need of replacement even if not leaking. You could also have a flex line that is stretching (like a little balloon.

Ill report on my weekend later with some pictures. We all love pictures right?

As so often happens I forgot to take a before picture so I will paint a picture with words. I had a hard case for my sunglasses and I would place it just above the shift boot and on the front of the ash tray. This eventually left a line on the front of the ashtray and to a lesser extent on the metalic paint on the top of the shift boot cover. I had decided at some point I needed to fix this but it was not a priority. When reinstalling the center console trim while checking stereo fit I managed to chip off a piece at the top to the right of center. Expletive deleted. This annoyed me enough that it was time to find a matching paint and fix these things. I found that Rust-oleum has a color that is a pretty good match. I tested on the ashtray first. In the photos I have not yet painted anything but the ashtray. I also decided to repair the lower left mount on the center console trim. A previous owner must have overtightened this and cracked it. The Rust-oleum color is Nickle Satin. It is just a tiny bit brighter than the original color. Since taking the photos I painted the shift boot cover and filled in the crack on the center console trim. More photos later.

Wow Doug that is an excellent match. GOOD FIND!

Post some pics when you get the whole console done. I may have to give that a shot - i have all the prep and cleaner stuff left over from the burgundy resto, would only take an hour or so and I'd have the center console done as well.

Hows the finish - high gloss or matte? I may do a top-coat of a matte clear, would help for chip / scratch prevention anyways.

I've put future projects on hold for now to work on what I have in front of me.
Grose jets have been shipped out and my second carb should be coming in soon.
I did have Frankenrex install my radio antenna yesterday and the radio and speakers will be in sunday.
I need to find a super cheap grease gun for my idler arm install.

Oh, paycheck may you come fast.
Need to buy brake parts and my helmet.
I think I need to pick up drug dealing or something for fast cash.

It is a matte just like the original paint. It really is a pretty good match. I painted the big part this evening. I will have to see how it looks put back in the car. I can see a ridge where the chip was at the top. I know I could fix this so it would not be possible to tell. But this is my DD, not a show car. So I am hoping I dont suffer from a bout of OCD and have to fix it.

I am not going to put a matte clear top coat on this. I think it wouldn't look quite right. I am going to let it gas off for a couple of days before I put it in the car.

Also, broke 1400 EV miles today.

Thanks to forum member wahootie, I replaced my "gas tank protector" panel with a very nice one from a parted out GSL-SE. Crossing my fingers that the incessant rattling is a thing of the past.

Before:

After:

It's too late to go out for a joy ride, so I'll have to settle for checking the effectiveness of this fix during tomorrow morning's commute.
