I guess it's just from it sitting, if I go drive it right now it won't smoke at all but the longer it sits the more it smokes. I assume it's the seals leaking oil as it sits but I don't know, eventually I'm going to buy something else to drive and rebuild this motor.
The exhaust is a header, two resonators about mid way back and a magnaflow muffler. I wouldn't say it's overly loud, I like the deeper note, but it's not quiet for sure lol. It use to throw flames and backfire with the stock nikki carb but doesn't anymore after I put on this Weber carb.
I have a bunch more videos if anyone cares to look through them for more sound clips or anything.. jeg0024's channel - YouTube The one on the dirt road has some decent audio, I've been trying different things to get rid of the wind noise on the GoPro.

I also have a similar plan with my car. I have a bid in to pick up a Mustang for a semi-beater car from a friend to give the RX a rest. Then it's off to the rebuild (what the girl don't know don't hurt her) until she finds out
Beautiful looking area, extremely jealous of the location!

Yeah mine doesn't even smoke if I use it everyday. I had left to Ohio for a few weeks while my grandmother was in the hospital so that's why it was sitting for so long. I drove her today though and didn't have any issues or smoke so I'm not too worried about it.
It is really nice here, don't think you can tell much from the muffler view though lol. I've never been to Minnesota but it probably can't be too far off what Ohio and Michigan looks like :P The only thing we are missing here are some nice mountain roads, I took some back roads in Virginia on the way home from Ohio in my mom's slow *** car and it was still fun. The funnest road here is an interstate on ramp lol.. probably why I have a car just for auto-x so I can get my fun in!

Today I bolted the front fenders back on after fixing up some rust and other damage on my 84 Gsl-Se. I then reversed the car and jacked the rear up to start work on that end. Aside from finding some significant rust behind the right rear wheel well, I'm struggling to figure out how to get the rear bumper cover off. I've removed the 8 lower 10mm bolts and 4 metal brackets, but there seem to be clips on both ends as well as perhaps more fasteners / bolts on the top?
Can the cover be taken off without taking the entire bumper off or should I just take the whole thing off using the access holes in the hatch area?

Well, not today but yesterday I had my spare oil cooler pressure tested, and while it isn't pretty it is usable, so I'll be putting it in this weekend. Might also just do an oil change, coming up on the first 1500 miles on the motor. Would be nice to not have to dump a quart in it every 2-3 days.

I worked 14 hours... AGAIN... To pay for more 7 parts
Radiator shroud this time
I'm really hoping one of these days I'll fill the void of 7 stuff... But in the back of my mind I know that when that day comes I'll get another 7 and have to do it all over again.

I watched a vid on how to remove the rats nest. Then I went and checked that the guy who owned my rex before me actually did it right. He did . So I drove around all happy like for a while.

got the wiring left to do on the build. everything else is ready to go to the shop for her final parts installed (brake hard lines and exhaust)
my daughters tried to help but managed to distract me for the month of July. I haven't had the motivation yet to get serious on the car to clean up the small details that are left. i still need to cut the hood and figure that out, I still have to run the crank case vent system (don't want to run stock lines as they are ripped and not cheap), I still need to get an alignment, i need to buy a bunch of $5-20 parts that could easily cause me be broke for another month or so.
so until she is done here are some more pics

well, i got my oil cooler put in, no more leaks, and works great, however, in the process, i found this...
(its a video)
yup, thats what an idler arm with (literally) nonexistent bushings looks like. fwiw, the other wheel is not moving at all. bushings are on order, however the car is off duty until the bushings get put in.
