What I did today: Brought home my 9" housing and a core GSL-SE engine to get them out of my friend's way, since he is moving next week.
Need to straighten the housing, it's badly warped. I have some ideas of how to do it, not sure how good those ideas are.

hello all
Im currently deployed and haven't touched my fb in 3 months :/
Last week however I did Score a clean targa band for about $425 I think it's a good price seeing as how most are skyrocketing past $500
i'll be back in January and my list goes as such of things to do on my 85 and the gf's 79 LE
85:
put T3 coilovers on
get 48ida jetted correctly
swap 4.88 rear in and do disc conversion (lines, proportional valve)
remove rear bumper
mount front oil cooler
mount and fit the tuckin 99 flares I have
79: remove stock 12a with slow leaking coolant jacket
sell keg, 12a exhaust, 36dcd's
install her new pineapple racing s4 na pport engine w/48ida
figure out if she has the early gsl rear or not, if later model rear, swap my 4.10 gears from my old rear to her's and sell her 3.9 lsd gears. if not, just sell the 4.10 rear
install my ground control front suspension on the front of her 79
holley red fuel pump and fpr for the new engine
build/buy exhaust for the pport
fix a few electrical gremlins
phew, I think I have a full plate that should keep me busy til spring

Well since its winter and my FB is not a daily driver. I am taking care of the suspension and tires which need some attention. I recently purchased car off BAT web-site before Thanksgiving; picked it up in first week of December. The chassis has 169K and factory replacement motor has 35K.
So went on a shopping spree over last two days...
Konig Rewind w/ Dunlop 195/50/15
Struts and shocks KYB G
Springs Racing Beat
After getting some tin worm taken care of and having underbody POR15/under coated, plan to have suspension and tires installed.
Hoping before spring to have RB headers, and pre-silencer installed. And rats nest removed. Anyone have Youtube video or step by step instruction on this item?
Car runs very strong, so not sure if I want to cause issues with rats nest removal.
Plan to have all this done before April.
If anyone knows of a good Rotary shop within 1.5 hours of Louisville please contact me.
Can wait to BRAP in the spring LOL. Happy holidays.

My first experience with a big two-barrel carb was a customer's '80 that turned out to have a Lake Cities and a 45 DCOE. I was shocked, the drivability was identical to my bone-stock '80.
The key thing will be if I can incorporate the A/C idle-up solenoid to the carburetor.
I did it for my 36 DCDs, I used the stock one off the nikki . Its just a matter of fabbing a bracket so the hook can hit the throttle linkage. I was able to bolt it to the Rotary Engineering throttle cable bracket and it works perfectly. I may be able to dig up a pic. Just feels a little odd to adjust your idle speed with a 14 mm wrench!
The icing on the cake was installing an adjustable vacuum switch in the AC compressor circuit so the compressor kicks off when I open the throttle all the way, I can drive with the AC on without it feeling like the AC kills my power. You never even know the AC is on!!
Here is a link to the switch I used:

You can find these for about $25.00

Fan looks way too deep and large in diameter to be a Taurus fan, besides those have white shrouds. It does look like the GT500 fan but I thought it'd be too large to fit a 1st-gen radiator.
1st-gen (tall type) and 2nd-gen radiators are almost identical in size, BTW. Core ares is within 1/4" of each other.

My 2005 Crown Vic even has a similar fan to the one above. I can say it moves air with authority.
edit: also, they're two-speed, and some of them have the relays mounted to them, making them super-easy to install. Supposedly, some '90s Volvo fans are basically the same, as well: http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/gener...plication.html

Installed this yesterday. My drivers side seat was broken as was the slider on the rail. Picked up a set of Porsche 914 seats locally at a great price. Lightweight fiberglass. Fixed back bucket. Period Correct look. I think I like! I just hope my personally fabricated seat rail doesn't turn into a safety hazard lol. Oh! and another benefit is that it now sits lower allowing me to get my legs beneath the steering wheel.
I also found a DIY on a porsche forum to increase the size of the side bolster before recovering them for a factory look. May give that a shot soon!

I'm super long legged as well (at 6'0 to 6'1). I have mounted these pretty far back and can now fully stetch my leg when the clutch is depressed. It has definitely given me more room all around.

Had an 81 cluster sitting on my desk for the longest time. Couldn't find any sort of aftermarket gauge faces and couldn't take the stock yellow anymore. Solution? Make them:P
Front plexi still need's a Windex and polish

There was a Mercury Cougar guy who did some custom overlays for FBs quite a few years ago. I supplied the gauge clusters for him to model off of (S1, S2, and S3, since I had all three). I have one of the few SA22Cs with white gauges, though the way the lighting on the numbers had to work is funky, and they're yellowing a bit after so many years. I think nowadays, I would just cut white vinyl overlaid on colored plexi.

Finished up doing a rear bumper tuck. Didn't want to ruin the shocks so I made a new inner core out of aluminum which also had the added bonus of sitting even closer to the rear. Had to completely chop up the cover but it had some cracks and I think the new look is worth it. No more rear protection but where I live 90% of bumpers are already as high as the rear glass...
