At 9:30 this morning I had the complete engine ready to go in the car, and by lunch time trying to crank it over. After looking up things and triple checking everything it was running by 5:30. Turns out putting a little 2-cycle in the carb was the trick. Don't know why, but it worked.

Jeff - I don't know what you are building, but if it is for the street, you should come and test drive my latest creation before you plunge into a V8 project. I had a lot of fun with my Ford powered FB, but this 3 rotor Nissan motor is just awesome (it has a crankshaft and two camshafts that rotate.)

Been having flooding issues recently so I decided to rebuild the carb. Despite having and changing two filters regularly I found what I consider to be quite a bit of trash in there, lots of lil black specs. Sediment from the tank I assume.
Cleaned up and ready for rebuild/assembly
Was hoping to put this off till I was ready to put the Camden on since I've gott up the jets but she almost left me stranded twice on the way home yesterday. Is what it is I suppose.

Got a little bit done this weekend^^ got my engine back together, picked it up from Rotaryrudy on here. Painted her up, slaped her back together and threw on a new clutch, pressure plate and throw out bearing, just waiting on a 2nd oil pan gasket to go in with the oil pan baffle.
Also got my louvers put on, thanks stevefullspecmoto^^, they were in great shape. There a little different then the ones I normally see, they have little hole in the side, they even still have the Chastain Shadow sticker on em.
Figured I should also clean up the engine bay while the motor was out. So It all got sanded down and coated in primer and a satin black with gold and blue accents. Came out pretty good should look even better with an engine in there^^
Also got my Gran Tourismo 5 chair finished, not quite work on my car related but kinda rotary related lol^^. Made it out of exhaust tubing and a bender and welder, with a honda civic mugen seat and a G27 logitech wheel, shifter and pedels.^^

I deffinately want it, consider it sold^^ just need to get the money together for it. Still have to get my oil lines for the front mount oil cooler and it should be good to go. Deffinately porting the spare irons, these have a mild street port on em so the old ones might get a bridge or a P.port we'll see >

Congrats on keeping the MOP!

Kentetsu: Because it's shorter I in theory should be able to mount it at an angle like the FC rads are mounted which will allow me to put the fan in front since it won't be as close to the sway bar. The problem I'm having is that to get mine to mount that way with the steering rack where it is means the top protrudes into the hood space. Its about 6 inches too tall. Thats why I need the dimensions so I can mock up a cardboard one to test fit to see if I'm right about it being a better fit.
Jeff: We are both using electric fans. Couldn't even tell you where my clutch fan is at this point.

Spent some time with the GSL a few days ago. Figured out the PO's "updated" wiring and got the fuel pump running finally. However, no response from the carb. I'm going to try banging on it and see if it frees up, otherwise (as much as I originally wanted to keep the car intact) I'm going to strip the rat's nest and throw on another (modded by me) carb that is known good... Wish me luck.

G'luck Kentetsu!
Well my sister thought it would be an excellent April Fool's gag to stack up my lips and stick them under my bed. Just found out about this today since I didn't go into my spare room. Needless to say when she called and told me to have a peek under the bed I lost my ****. Didn't see any scratches but I was pissed. So that's my RX-7 related adventure for the day. Color me unimpressed.

Nikki carb rebuild
Tore down the nikki carb and started cleaning it for rebuild. But I need a little help and ifsomeone could give me a clue........i'd appreciate it. I've got all of the nomenclature from here and looking at the rx7 carb manual for a 1985 gsl, there are only 2 weights in the carb. The accelerator pump inlet weight with check ball and the accelerator pump outlet weight with check ball. Problem is, I have a 3rd weight and didn't see where it fell out of the main body. Anyone have an idea? Thanks.

Dropped off my rim barrels to get sandblasted. The thought of spending 5 hours hunched over doing the rest of them with sam's shitty sandblasted makes me cringe so I said to hell with it, I'll pay to get them done. Also dropped my axles at a machine shop to have the bearings and studs pressed in. Should be done tomorrow. Might be able to get those back in the car this week and start buttoning up the brakes.

Finished milling The Grand Canyon into my backup TR. Gonna try some thermosteel on the cracks in the inserts; it can't hurt & may help, but it will probably just evaporate.
Bolted up my freshly-repainted pulleys, pulled off the rad mounts and battery base for a respray, and started contemplating some other touchup jobs that need doing.
Cleaned out the oil cooler, & preparing to test the bypass t-stat - - hope it passes, as I don't think they are still available!
Cleaning and sanding other kipple along the way. Once I get the exhaust sorted, I can focus on the carb issue.

She still in pieces, the guys at Smileys gave me the wrong float bowl gaskets and I forgot to pick up a fuel level glass plug to replace the nipple RB put on it for the OMP. Gonna hit up Oreilys after work tomorrow and see if they've got those bits.
