So, the bag/vacuum/GreatStuff experiment was also unsatisfactory in result, though somewhat better than the foil trick. GreatStuff is just not dimensionally stable enough, & ends up with too many large voids.
Project's kinda stalled until I come up with a new idea (without spending a fortune). & get a little more free time.

I'm not sure what you're trying to do, but I've had a bit of experience with casting, mold-making, and polyurethane expanding foams. The OTC foam stuff is great for packing stuff in boxes, but not much else. To get a good quality foam, you'll have to go to Smooth-on or one of the other mold rubber companies to get a proper expanding. But it will cost you. How much volume are you needing to fill? PM me if you don't want to spill the beans on what you're up to.

Exhaust heat shield?
Yesterday I finished removing the choke ****, cable, and box from my FB as they won't work with the Weber side-draft. I picked up a longer cable and **** that should work about a month ago, so I'll probably try putting it in after auto-x this Sunday.
Fired her up when I got home today just to be sure she would. She really hates not having a real choke. Will have to see if the pseudo-choke that the Weber has will make any difference. Accelerator pump still isn't moving smoothly and may still be contributing to my high idle. Ordered a new control rod for the accelerator pump from Pierce Manifolds. They're local, so it should be here Tuesday or Wednesday.
I think the backfires are taking their toll on the RB canister...it's sounding at little rattly back there now.
Noticed I rub the rear tires when backing down the drive and my fender actually shredded bits of tire on one side. Pulled out the sheet metal from the wheel well. Bent it back in, but this strengthens my resolve to put the flares on after the next auto-x event this weekend.
Also cleaned some rod bolts from a TII engine I pulled apart last weekend. I'll be using the TII to build a carbed 4-port NA 13B. Seriously considering a bridge port. But I have plenty of prep to do to the irons before I get there.

Sometimes it is the little things:
When I bought the car in 1999 the drivers side vent was falling apart. I had saved all the pieces and thought that I would pull it apart and fix it at some time but it was too badly damaged to make this practical. So last summer I advertised for one on the forum and got one in good condition. I wiped as much dirt out of the duct work as I could and then snapped the replacement into place. I then took it for a very satisfying 30 mile drive. Along the way I ran next to a really nice 280Z for a few blocks. Would have been fun to push it but the opportunity didn't present itself.

I noticed an oddity about both my FB's. They have the 80's and earlier version of cup holders built in at the factory. Just open the glove box and place your cup in the cup holder depression <grin>. These cup holders are best used when the car is not in motion.

I was going o do the headlight relay mod and install h4's. My two year old got a hold of one of the bulbs. More bulb research got me to this.
Installation required slightly enlarging the bottom of the cutout directly behind the bulb.

The past couple of days I spent cleaning my 13B rotors. They're looking good, but the seal areas still need clearing out.
Also got my package from Pierce Manifolds. I found that my throttle cam was sticking, so soon I'll pull off the carb, replace the accel pump control rod, replace the center return spring, replace the throttle plate bearings with sealed units, and give the carb a general going over.
Hoping that addresses the sticking throttle and possibly my high idle.

Sure this sounds stupid, But I added fluid to my power steering, and now have PS. Kinda like it. Leaks, need new pump. Owned the car for over a year never thought about it...
