Can't imagine actually getting to watch them CONTEND (and conquer) on the track. Envious!
I wasn't expecting much when I arrived at 10am as I understood that the Corvette would be the featured car. The only Corvettes I saw on the track were being handily beaten by our favorite rotaries.

The 787 driven by Terada came in 5th...but that's no surprise...that car is geared for top speed, something which cannot be taken advantage of at Laguna Seca. A Nissan made body contact with the winning 792 and DNF'd.

Here's a short vid of the cars coming back to the paddock after the race:

Hearing those 4-rotors go screaming by like banshees made the V-8 passes seem like a big yawn.

This evening I test drove the car after tightening down all the links to spec. Clunking sound gone. Some minor clacking going on, which would be the Heim joints, but that's normal, and I'm fine with that. Just happy the clunking is gone. Oh, and I broke the tail loose in second gear. God, I love this Miata tranny!

Then I decided to see what's going on with the rear passenger wheel. That weird scraping sound when I back up was really driving me nuts. I pulled the caliper off and didn't really see anything. I reversed the anti-rattle spring and the sound got worse. So I took a closer look and noticed one of the clips that hold the brake pads in place was making the noise. I wiggled it and it stopped. I guess it was a little too close to the rotor. Glad it was something simple for a change.

I turned my attention to the 13B on the engine stand...it had oil metering nozzles and lines to be installed, so I went ahead and did that. I routed the lines the way they looked like they wanted to go. Then I read the Haynes manual and the color lines I put on were out of order. But the photos matched the exactly how I set it up, so I kept it that way. I would imagine you'd want the lines to go where they want to and not force them into places they don't want to go, given how brittle they can become. These are brand new lines, but why chance it?

Finally, I unpacked a box of goodies from one of our forum members. I picked up a full GSL-SE stereo setup, complete with all amps, wiring, and working power antenna. It's a really nice setup as it was pulled from a car with only 30K on the clock. So, I guess I'll be tearing apart the interior again really soon.

I put the car cover back on her, to help keep her clean until I start surgery on that bad control arm - hopefully, this weekend. I've got about a month before JCCS, and normally I'd be in the throes of trying to finish some additional upgrade prior to that show, but just no time this year.

Rumor is that SevenStock will be November 9th or thereabouts. No word on venue yet. I might have time for some project before then, but would have to get cracking on it soon.

I was thinking the whole time that you should have been there. I figured you were working. Bummer.

The F1 races were exciting too. The leader flipped his car. Driver was OK though.

Removed the battery today. Car has been sitting for a while and the battery had a good amount of mung (battery acid growth) along the top. Looked underneath and found the bolt closest to the fenderwell was pretty corroded. Hit it with some mmo to try and break some corrosion, and will remove it, paint it, and put it back. Then I will relocate the battery out of the engine bay...probably into a bin until I find the money for a rear seat conversion at which point it will sit in the hatch.

Tested this intake on. Any ideas of who might've made it? I couldn't find a thing.

johnny "agro" heavyfoot

jibaro12a that thing looks wild - nice and short for high end ported power. i've not seen it before.

today i sorted my throttle cable issue.

I've noticed since buying the car that there was something whacky about the throttle. i had to mash it into the carpet and it felt like it never quite got to full throttle. like if the floor was just an inch lower....

so i looked into shortening throttle cables, and the deeper i looked into it the more i realized that was not what i needed to do. Thats a serious ordeal - and if the throttle cable housing is close - and it is, within an inch - there's gotta be something else going on.

on inspection of the throttle pedal, i see the top-out bump stop tab has been bent back. i squeeze a flat head screwdriver up there and pry it out, noting that its actually the entire assembly thats been mashed into the firewall - as the entire thing including the mount pulls out.

Sure enough - the throttle pedal falls into position, and the cable tensions perfectly against the throttle body spring.

I've determined that at some point in this car's past was a driver whom i've named Johnny "Agro" Heavyfoot. it is unknown as to Johnny's current whereabouts - so keep a knowing eye for a gentleman with a super buff right leg and a fine taste in automobiles.

Tell him he bent my throttle pedal assembly.

Lake City I think. They used to be pretty popular, make good power. I think Lake Cities made them, among others, Atkins used to too, I think. They are pretty darn rare now... I've always been curious about them. Let us know how you like it when you've gotten it going!

I started putting the GSL-SE stereo setup in my car last night. Just about wrapped it up this morning before work. It powers on, but no sound yet. Hmmmm. I'm not seeing the problem with the wiring, so I'll be opening a new thread soliciting advice.

After 2 frustrating days of troubleshooting the installation of a GSL-SE stereo in my car, I finally got it working. In case you all don't know, there are 2 fuses that run this stereo, but only one fuse in the single 5W amp setups. The second fuse (which was blown) was the cigarette lighter fuse. Replacing this fuse caused all kinds of things to work that I didn't know wasn't working...like my cig lighter, my hazard lights, and an annoying beeping sound when I stick the key in the car. Oh, and most important, the power to my power amps.

started cleaning my battery platform. I'm actually impressed that there is not too much corrosion on the thing considering how much battery acid was all over it. A few more nights of cleaning and it should be ready for paint and re-installation. but before i put it back in i have some serious engine bay cleaning to do...

I think it wants you to put your seat belt on. does that shut it up? or your door is open and it doesn't want you to lock your keys in... I'm sure it's providing a great service, if you would only try to understand... may require clipping a wire.
