Steering loose
I have a 1983 RX7 and the steering is loose. I can turn the wheel an inch or so in either direction before it starts to engage in a turn. This gets better once the car has warmed up. I'd appreciate any help and/or direction.

The steering box can start to go bad. There is a process in the factory service manual to improve it. The issue is that if not don't correctly, it can wear the gears to the point they are no good. You can't buy them new any longer. I do think Rock Auto has a rebuild service. Replacing the box can be a bear.
Factory Manuals
There is a forum member that was making a rack conversion. I believe he said we would be making more in the future. Do a search in the first gen section for rack. It's not cheap at about $3000 but said to work great.

Here is a thread about the forum member who made a new, replacement rack. NLA, but as stated, he may produce more in the future. Very highly rated kit and member.
