Hello,I've got a 1983 FB, Royal Maroon exterior with cloth and vinyl Red interior. All stock. 12A and 5 speed. (JMZFB131200665936)It's a european car, one of the very few sold here in France. Fully equipped except for power steering and cruise control (not sure if it was offered here).Because it's a euro spec it has disc brakes in the rear like the GSL but an open diff. It has about 56000 km, or 35 000 miles.
Could you please add it to your registry? I've repainted the hub caps since this pic was taken. Don't have a nice pic of the interior atm.

Super nice car. I am intrigued by the steering wheel "nubs", I've never seen that detail before. The rearview mirror is different than my US 1983 GSL, you have circular side markers instead of rectangular. And you have headlight washers.
Neat! Looking forward to seeing more photos.
One cautionary note, you should get rid of the air-vent mounted phone holder, these old vents are hard to come by and the plastic is very brittle after 40 years.

Hey there! Glad you like her!
I'm impressed you noticed so many details, very observant !
The little nubs on the steering wheel are secondary buttons for the horn. Along with a few other details, I think they were added by the first owner, who worked at a Mazda dealership here in France.
Same goes for the weird sigil or emblem on the B pillar. I have no idea what it represents, it looks like some sort of big bird flying, like a crane or smth. Another strange detail is the badge on the rear that used to say "Wankel" (my best guess at least). Can't say I've seen badges like that on US spec cars. Maybe these were personnal touches or weird french dealership shenanigans, I'm not sure.
You're right about the phone holder, even though the plastic looks suprsingly fresh, I'll get rid of it.
A few more pics I have on hand in this post, but I'll do a proper photoshoot next time I take her out!
Cheers!
You can kinda see the weird amblem on the B pillar, and a little peek of the interior. Center console Weird angle of the backseat (I read somewhere that US specs didn't have it after a certain year?) Can't find a closer pic of the rear! I tend to take more videos I guess. (You can still kinda see the half gone "wankel" badge on the left)
"weird french dealership shenanigans" lol. That's good stuff!
My US version has no rear-left side badge at all. Just the Mazda on the right, same as yours. That grab handle to the right of the shifter is different! I think the previous owner was definitely off piste. The cloth detail on rear seats is nice! And of course that you have rears seats makes it even more rare. Nice car.

Thank you! It's super interesting to learn the small differencies between markets and versions. Here are a few clearer pics.

Bought in Cape Coral, FL in May 2020, had it shipped up to MA. Running, but not driving (clutch). Has been sitting in the garage since. Still white, but needs paint. The plan is to paint A9 Daytona Blue and keep stock to replicate my dads ‘79 which was totaled in the early 80s (I’d love to try to find that vin, but not likely) As it sits now, dirty with a mouse nest in the bay, will be getting pulled out for cleaning and work this summer. Whatever it takes. The May 2020 in Florida before shipping it up to MA Clean garage in 2022, with my grandpa’s ‘78 Puch Sport
