I am currently working redoing my 83 GSL I purchased the car 2 months ago for 800 in the time of 2 months I put a new fuel tank and fuel lines plugs wires distributor cap rotor new oil new carb and manifold due to old carb being completely locked up and recently I put the acv block off plate on the car the questions I have is the heat exchanger pipe is still on the car but it rotted off on the back so it’s hanging underneath the car I’m wondering with that rotted off is that is what’s causing the car not wanting to idle when I start it she instantly fires up but idles at 3 to 35 sometimes 4 before I stop it. before putting the new manifold on I put a brand new gasket and coolant jacket o rings the car does still have the smog pump and the rats nest.

 

Couple of things. You could have a clogged cat or/or a massive vacuum leak.

Punctuation would also help.

 

When I did start it after redoing the fuel tank she did shoot a rats nest out of the exhaust.

 

I've experienced the mouse nest out the tailpipe fireworks. It's not an issue but amusing to see.
