If your stopping at the Rotary Inn you may want to consider coming up 85 all the way to Va
before getting on 95. 95 sucks, a lot, less time on it the better. That will put you on 95 just south
of Richmond.

We look forward to seeing you here at the Rotary Inn Reckless! And don't believe those rumors you've heard about this place being a goat farm.

A hearty second to that interstate 85 recommendation.

Hey GA Guys, should be getting into the Jefferson area around 4 or 5 today. Had to fight some bad weather so far so I'm going a bit slower than I'd like but it's starting to clear up. Got a little bit of work to do once I hit the " rotary inn" but other than that, anyone wanna grab dinner and talk 7's for a bit? See you guys soon!

Hey guys, big update time. So I'm sitting here at the rotary inn, awesome place let me tell you. The last couple legs of my trip have been a little rough.
Leaving out of San Antonio I started running into some bad weather, rain to the Arkansas state line and then some bad winds all through Arkansas ( kinda surprised I didn't get pulled over on suspicion of DUI I was getting blown around so bad) . Made it to fort Campbell, spent a day or so with my brother there, and then set off for the rotary inn. What was supposed to be a 5 hour drive turned into almost 11 hours due to the downpour and wind I drove into . And my wipers died out at some point, that was fun. Got them fixed and kept rolling. Finally got in to the rotary inn around 5 , said hi to Ray and we got right to work.
Tracked down that oil leak to some OMP lines in exceptionally bad shape, didn't look it, but they crumbled and snapped off in Ray's hands. Somehow he found an extra set at it his house and we threw them in, decreased it all, gave her a tune up, capped off the cold start assist ( whoops! ) and now she's running better than ever.
Just had dinner here and now looking to drive overnight to Richmond , should be there for about a day or so, so if anyone wants to say hi just give a shout.
And just want to say thanks to Ray and his wife Kathy for the hospitality they've shown me . Awesome people all around, Ray knows his rotaries and taught me a thing or two, and Kathy made one heck of a dinner. Even though I was late getting out here I'm glad I came out this way.
And now everyone's favorite part, PICS!

New Owner

I happen to be the guy who just bought it this past weekend. Drove like a dream from Richmond back to College Park.

Couple questions though,
It feels like the throttle gets a little shaky when cruising. Any idea what that could be?
Also, anyone know where I might be able to find a stock radio or a couple replacement parts for the interior?

Indeed! Welcome to the Fold Doowrah.
Throttle shake: tho this (suggestion) usually helps with acceleration problems rather than shakey throttle, you might want to drop the $4-ish to replace the FUEL FILTER, located in front of the driver rear tire, underneath. It is hanging out easy to see. Easy to change.

Parts:
have you checked out the Parts section of the Forum?

I fear the problem was a symptom of something much worse

Update time:

I've done a full rebuild of the engine. I did in fact have a failed apex seal. I've replaced that rotor, both housings, and done full gasket and seals replacement.

It currently is running, but won't idle without the choke. It will hold around 1100 rpm for a bit, then die. I've tried messing with the idle speed adjustment without success. Another issue is that after running for a while, smoke starts coming out of the thermal reactor area. I can't tell if it's oil or coolant burning, but neither seem to be dropping very quickly.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I'd love for it to finally be drivable again.

Wow! Nice to see a continuation of this epic story.

First thing to look for is vacuum leaks. Then check the timing and make sure the spark is good (and the plug wires are properly routed).

Last is to tweak the carb. Set the idle around 1200 rpm, then screw in the fuel/air mixture until the rpms start to drop, then back a half turn.

Please check these items and get back to us. If you have some pictures and a video or two that would be great.

wow! this is great. glad you're keeping us up to date since the car changed hands.

have you actually tried to drive it yet? if so, does it feel like it has any power to it? does it fire quickly or do you have to crank it for a while? definitely look into the timing.
