having done a couple 25 hour races, i notice a couple things. notice how the expensive cars, break, catch on fire and need push starts and the Rx7 just gets treated like its a normal street car?

imsa GTU in 1983 was for engines 2.5L and under, which means the 2.6 liter 13B is in the GTO category. GTO is 2.6 to like 6 liters, so the 13B in GTO is at a big disadvantage. notice the thing is fuel injection/slide throttle/dry sump? its something like 320hp

I thought there was a 1.8 equivalence specifically so that the 13B would fit in GTU?

well they changed the GTO/GTU engine sizes later, so they might have at some point. in the beginning though the rotary was x2, so the 13B was 2.6 and in the GTO class

Pretty cool video.

I am running a 14 hour race at Daytona later this month in an 83 RX-7. It's a got a 5.0 motor now though. So far its lasted a 24 hour race and another 14 hour race. We shall see if it makes it through this one...
