Trust me, it's not that pretty anymore. It needs paint on the nose and fenders once per year to keep it looking that nice. I'm not the type of person to let it sit in the garage and collect dust though. It's not street legal or even streetable.

Oh man, this thread has my name all over it.
I have a TON of pictures from the runoffs, most of them are Mazda stuff, which is all I will post here (unless someone wants to see the winning GTL CRXs or the L series powered B14 sentras)

Also, check this out. In order to run a rotary powered car in GT3, it has to be 12A powered... The result? 12A powered FDs!
And a nice RX3 that I think came in 3rd place (one of the only cars that was able to install rain tires before the race)
I also have a ton of pictures of the Mazdatrix E-Production vert, if anyone is interested in seeing those.

I think this was Mariah Motorsports' FC race car.
A 20B powered GT1 car.
An E-Production RX-8
And the car that my dad was crewing for (He should have been racing instead)

Awesome pictures guys. Really like the Run Offs pics.
First gen's have always been popular in SCCA Club Racing and I don't see that ending anytime soon. While no longer competitive in Improved Touring where newer tech cars are just faster (at least they are Mazda Miatas) the first gen has found a real home in E Produciton. I went to several Run Offs at Mid Ohio and all of the Run Offs at HPT and the first gen RX7 was the most popular car in the class. This is really incredible considering the cars that are now in E Production like S2000 Hondas and the RX8. The bottom line is that it really hard to beat the economical power of the rotary in an easy to build and maintain chassis.
Another class where first gen's are making a statement is STU. The Midiv STU National Class Champion is an 85 GSL-SE driven by David Bennett. First gens also hold STU track records at several tracks in the Midiv...I have two of them.
If you want to see first gen's in action, find an SCCA Club Race in your area and attend. 2010 SCCA National Championship races will start kicking off in the SE USA early next year. Go to www.scca.com and find the races near you.
