I appreciate it, a lot of time and money has been spent trying to get it that way.

The car looks different now, I started venting the fenders and hood to increase downforce, allmost done. Still needs to be painted, waiting till I make a rear diffuser. I'm trying to take it to the next level, I'd like to run some time attack events next year. Trying to bring back the glory days of 1st gens (IMSA days). I will have a new intake on the car for next year too. It will probably make about 260whp @ 9000rpm next year.

I'm also going to work on welding the seams of the unibody to increase chasis stiffness

My next event is Nov 7-8th, it's still at Buttonwillow CA, but we're running a slightly different configuration. This time I will make sure I record my fast lap of the weekend. I'll be swaping out my 4.875 rear end and switching to a 5.125 with a fresh LSD. Also fixing 3rd gear.

I need to get my website together one of these days. Tough to do it all sometimes. Hopefully I will have some new pics of the car in Feb 2010

Honestly, that is the best sounding 2 rotor I've ever heard. Is it a 12a or 13b? Rough specs?

Thank you very much for posting that video. I no longer want a 20b...I just want that.

I knew that track looked familiar!

So you're pretty much running identical lap times as a supercharged, lightened NSX and Ferrari 360 Challenge, on a long circuit no less. That really puts it into perspective. Props for building a SICK first gen.

13B bridge (small to medium size), 3rd gen irons and rotor housings, rx8 e shaft, light weight 89-91 RB rotors, ceramic apex seals, stock 3rd gen manifolds with MOTEC FI, Rotaryshack exhaust, MSD digital 6 on leading second gen coils, MSD wires, Mazda dry sump.

91 octane with 24* timing = 240whp on dyno jet

91 octane with 22* timing & more rich = 230whp on dyno jet (this is what I run at the track for my class)

I will probably jump up classes next year and change the intake (hoping for 260whp)

The car had a little more time left too. That lap at Fontana was run during the summer in July. It was early afternoon, hot out. I also was held up slightly coming onto the straight by a FFR car. The car probably has a 1:47.9 in cool conditions with a clear lap. I'm hoping to run a high 1:45 next year if I step up to a higher class.

Buttonwillow was the same, the car had about another second to be gained with a good clean lap. Unfortunately I didn't get footage of my 1:54.7 lap time. The time is still respectable, I was checking on times from super lap battle finals last year.

Scott, if your car is ever for sale let me know. Contact me at gregorym@flowja.com.

If you're thinking about stepping up to a higher class I have a GT RX7 that might interest you. Here's a shot clip of the car battling for first place against a fully modified 650whp 4WD Mitsubishi Evolution in March of last year:

I just posted the car for sale on Grassroots Motorsports:

Nicely prepared.

Unfortunately your car would put me into Super Unimited with NASA. I'm planning on keeping the car for now. NASA favors running a stock chasis/unibody.

There is an SCCA GT2 3rd gen that shows up to our events on occasion. It is tube frame with a 13B PP, NASA slots him into Super Unlimited. I'm also planning on running some Redline Time attack events next year, (tube frame not allowed).

Did'nt realize you were running NASA, thought you were SCCA. I'm in the Caribbean so I'm not knowledgeable about NASA and only know about SCCA because I bought the car from a SCCA competitor.

I'm selling the car because now-a-days our "rules" put rear wheels drive naturally aspirated cars like mine up against 4 wheel drive turbo cars like Evolutions. Our track has a lot of corners and up hill sections and Evos have a clear advantage with their torque, not to mention getting power to four wheels in the wet. Yes, there's something wrong with the rules, but getting them changed has proven futile so I'm left with two options: race an Evo or step down in class with a unibody rotary.

I'm looking for a well prepared 1st Gen unibody GT type car or roller.

Nice! I would be afraid to take that white one on the track, it is just too pretty.
