Turbo Conversion
I have been undergoing a turbo conversion on my GSL-SE which is primariliy a track car, but registered as a Pennsylvania antique.
Here is what I'm going as well as a couple teaser pics. Will post new pictures as soon as I have the thing running:
S4 street ported Turbo engine
NPR Intercooler
S4 Hybrid T04 60-1 Turbo
Microtech LT8
Turbo Transmission
Misc items
I bought all of these items off a forum member for $1,800
Fuel pump
Electric fan
Aotometer Gauges including WB 02 sensor
Misc small items
About $1,000
BNR Turbo stage 4 rebuild and porting of the wastegate as well as 12psi spring
About $900
New wheels and tires to help handle the power:
About $1,100
Other hoses and plugs and gear oil:
About $300
New RC engineering injectors and 1600cc secondaries
About $500
Entire thing installed, engine taken apart and all warn parts replaced including new oil seals and FD corner springs, custom exhaust, custom drive shaft, dyno tuned at KD Rotary:
About $1,500
I started out doing the install myself, but ended up not having the time or place and since installing and dyno tuning it was only a small part of the total cost, I went for that. Last Saturday, I went up there to check out the progress. I have to say, the quality of work is excellent. Electronics are going in today and custom down-pipe is coming in on Tuesday. I should be picking it up later in the week as I have already scheduled a HPDE at NJ Motorsports park (Lightening) as I really want to catch the last event of the year.
I will post dyno results when I get them. I am shooting for 370hp at the wheels as the last car KD build with this same turbo and no engine porting put down 371.
I was able to recoup some costs:
Complete running GSL-SE engine and ECU:
+$600
Complete Mazdatrix true duel exhaust:
+$400
Here are some phone pics I took on Saturday. The new wheels are not on yet as wheels have stolen robbed there before.

Looks great. I sometimes wish I would have went with a turbo setup rather than mess with an NA build. Wouldn't matter for AutoX since I already overpower the 205 width R Comps.
What tires and size are you going to run on track? I am trying to find some 15X7.5 or 15X8 and fit 225s NT01s all around.

I bought those wheels pictured for street use and wet track use. In my Avatar I have my track wheels which are Kossi K1s that are 15X7 but I'm unsure of the tire size. With my previous HP, they kept up easily on race ruber (Toyo R888), I will check the size when I pull them out this weekend. I also have a set or DR 13X8 with Hossiers. If the Kossi can't keep up, I may have to try those, but that will only be a temp solution as I know the next thing I need to upgrade is my breaks and I doubt that I can squeese Wilwood's under the 13's.
Here is a pic from my last event (N/A), about to show a GTR what's up

If you are looking to upgrade the breaks check out Re-Speeds upgrade. You use four pot T2 calipers and can keep your bolt pattern. Should be a lot cheaper than wilwood stuff.

I picked up my car today and I will be running it at NJ Motor Speedway on Sunday.
First, I would like to say, KDR did an excellent job on the install and all of the custom fab work is top notch (and within budget).
My only disapointment was with BNR. I paid for a 12lb wastegate actuator spring, but he only put in a 6lb. Since I do not have a boost controller so I can only get up to 5lb of boost and this monster of a turbo will not spool up fast enough with the leakage that occurs.
BNR is fixing the issue. Meanwhile, I'm stuck with an irregular driving car, but it is still making about 250 due to the huge ports in the engine.
Next up, the 12lb spring and a dual stage manual boost controller--so I can switch between 10 and 14psi.

Pictures form this Sunday.
Here are some pictures from this Sunday. The car was not running smoothly and it was raining all day at the Thunderbolt. I went off track twice, but with no damage besides my pride and some mud. Some other cars were not as lucky and I saw a wrecked S2000, Miata, and CRX. Most owners of high-dollar cars never took them out of their trailers.
Seeing that the rain was not going to let up, I did what most smart people did and retired.
On a side note, I am very happy with both the fit and the look of the street wheels that I bought. I ran these on the track as slicks would have been just crazy.
