Man Ray, you have an impressive collection! I would absolutely love to eventually have 2-3 nice first gens. I currently own a tornado gray 84 GSL-SE that I fell in love with on site!

I'd trade one of my GSLs (but not both!) for that tornado gray SE, my favorite color and that looks like an exceptional example. Hopefully you have the red leather interior!

Ray, have you ever seen an 85 in Custom Silver Metallic? it's paint code V9. i picked up a shell in that color and absolutely love it. i would have saved the car but its too far gone..and i need the front section to repair my 85 GS in Ocean Blue Metallic, color code L6. the Custom Silver a lighter color than Tornado Silver, color code K8. here's a pic of my parts car:

That custom silver metallic is nice Dave, I hadn't seen that one before, kind of a toss up with the tornado gray and the silver, which is growing on me. My silver GSL is just starting to show a little fading on the hood, so if I repaint it would be a tough decision between these three colors.

You got me thinking, maybe I will register both the white and silver GSLs at the same time, then I can change colors when I feel like it or give some down time to one of them if it ever needs repairs. Imagine two mint GSLs sitting in your driveway craving your attention each morning?

If anyone else has a "Purist" car out there we'd all love to have, this would be a nice place to show us what you've got!

And I agree with Vashner, that red GS is still the ultimate "Purist" car the RX-7 was meant to be, simple, sweet, inexpensive and perfect design:

Ray, you'd have to see the custom silver in person. i'll mail you a paint ship. i'll enclose it with the $10 i still owe you that i COMPLETELY forgot about until this morning. none the less, i believe that i still have your address. once the snow breaks here, i'll run out to the shop (which is about 25 mins away) and grab that paint sample and send it down to you in a very nice and warm Georgia.

I actually checked that car out about a week or two back. Flemmings is about 10 minutes away from me. The thing is in simply superb condition. Could eat off the undercarriage if you wanted to.

Looks like the red one didn't sell, the minimum wasn't met even though the bids went over $8,000. Nice car but that's a lot of money!

If they are looking for more than $8k out of that red 1st gen then I think they'd be smart to hang on to it for a while. It seems to me that the value of 1st gens, even in average condition, has been climbing very steeply as of late. When I first got into the Rx7 scene you could find nice cars for $1k all day long, and free parts cars just about whenever you wanted one.

Now it seems like even an average 1st gen is bringing in the neighborhood of $1500-3000. At least that's what I've seen on E-bay lately. The pristine cars seem to be fetching between $4-5k.

Agreed, the value is rising, but the $1000 cars are still out there, just not as readily available as they were in the "old days" (yes I realize we aren't that old lol)

i'm still buying 7's for far less than $1000. some run some dont. prices are climbing so you have to be selective on what you're buying and you need to know what you're looking for.

I'm glad I got my one owner, locally ordered and bought fully optioned GSL-SE for $2k. I want another so bad.

I love my RX-7, and I rediscovered why today. 60*~ weather, started right up and took off for a nice run!

She really is a great car and yes I have the sweet red leather interior in wonderful condition. I will get some more pictures up asap. I took a few last week, but have not had enough time to get them up on my site. I still need to make my RX-7 section for my website.... So many projects...So little time >.<
