possibly a dumb fc fb suspension swap question

so today i pulled the hubs off my fc to send it to it's final resting place.... vince's pull a part.... i got to looking at the hub on the fc and a spare i have of my fb.... the basic principle of the type of suspension carries on from the 1st gen to the 2nd (as far as the front anyway) strut mounts to a lower A arm and the to the top of the strut mount.... i got to looking at the lower ball joints and they look to be the same diameter between the 2 generations... has noone tried to put a 2nd gen balljoint in a 1st gen lower control arm and just bolted up the 2nd gen hub to it? i'm gonna pop out the balljoints tomorrow i think to see if there is a way to swap them... if so that is basically a free Big Brake kit and my fc coilovers will then fit the 1st gen as well... this probably won't work only because it seems awfully simple for no one to have tried it and had success before.... i tried to google it and searched on the forum a little, but couldn't find anything saying either or... just thought i'd ask before i got my hands dirty for no reason, and/or blew 200 bucks on the re-speed BB kit

Honestly, I would blow $200 bucks for the customer service that ReSpeed gives alone.
