Pilot bearing
I've always used a cheapo blind hole bearing puller with great success. I'd keep trying with some heat and penetrating lube.
Others have good success with the wet paper towel (hydraulic) method. I've never tried it but it might work.

I've been using a pilot bearing puller like this for years without any issues: https://www.harborfreight.com/two-ja...xoC5QAQAvD_BwE I put a socket under each leg of the U bracket to serve as an extension. Also, make sure the nut that expands the jaws is very tight. For me, it works every time.
i used a rented puller to do my first one. then, i think it was Judge Ito that i first heard talk about the hydraulic method, and i tried it. it works! i've done two of them that way since.
Probably surface rust welded over time. Put a very, very light coat of grease inside the E-shaft next time and that should help. Also, be sure NOT to over-grease the bearing or it'll be a bear to mate up the Trans to the engine due to hydrostatic lock from the input shaft to the grease seal. Just enough grease so the rollers are lubes, and try to keep it off of the grease seal.
