your best bet is to get a haynes manual , cause i doubt ne one is gonna pull apart there transmission to show you how to find where the pilot bearing goes unless theres really nice and have way to much time on there hands

the pilot bearing goes in the end of the e-shaft, that is the shaft that comes out of the center of the flywheel and goes all the way through the motor. to get the old one out you may need to buy or rent a pilot bearing puller or a blind-hole puller. i dont have a picture of it, but if you get yourself a haynes manual, it will have pictures.

i hope i helped a little.

^^^correct, the pilot bearing is pressed into the end of the eccentric shaft. there is also a grease seal just south of the pilot bearing. i own the oem mazda pilot bearing puller and reccomend it to anyone. its one of the best investments i have ever made. you will definatly want to use it or the best puller you can get to get the pilot bearing out and correctly reinstall it.

Should be a seal also in the kit. If not, you need to purchase one.

Should help:
Just scroll down to video size and wait for it to load-

Seals are not included in the kit, you can get one at mazdatrix for $3 or so.

I also bought an XTD clutch(stage 2) and the pilot bearing they sent was the wrong one! I drove all over town looking for the right one and it turns out the bearing that came w/ the clutch was called a pilot bushing and the one you need is the pilot bearing and seal! (The bearing that came w/ my clutch had a black plastic ring between two peices of metal- the one you need is very thin.)

Put in the new one, put in a seal, its easy to do and when the old one brakes you can't shift.

There is a lot of information on the forum on this, just search around.

And when you do it again an a couple weeks because the XTD is slipping already you will be a pro!

While you have the transmission out its a good idea to change the transmission front and rear main seal as well as the engine rear main seal.

and yes, xtd is crap.

make sure you don't push the pilot bearing in, i tried to get mine out using a chisel and just wound up pushing it in. Once it was pushed in a decided yo get the removal tool from advanced, but since it was in all the way the jaws would not get behind the bearing. I would up getting it out with a die grinder.
