New Addition to the Family!
Yesterday, I made a little trip to Asheville NC to pick up a '85 GSL-SE. $300 bucks. The interior has been redone, new shocks, complete exhaust, tires, fuel pump and filter. The PO had pulled the fuel tank to replace the fuel pump. He then realized that the pump was not in the tank. He spent $130 for a new pump. He purchaced a new filter for it as well. Then he had back surgury. He decided not to finish fixing the car. It has 127K on the clock. O'well, his loss, my gain
Anywho, here's some pics of the car.

I have the gas tank at a local radiator shop being cleaned. I decided to get it running today. The car hasn't ran in 6 years. I dumped about a half quart of ATF in the intake. She busted off on the second try. Pretty pleased. The alternator wasn't charging. No biggie. I had a couple spares lying around. Swapped it out, no problem. I have a "temporary" tank under the car to get it running. I don't think it would get me far.

The car is solid as a rock underneath. The paint looks like crap, but the interior is gorgous.

I really haven't decided yet. I originally just wanted to get the car, fix it up, then sell it. I just couldn't stand seeing it sitting there. I may just keep it. I always wanted a SE because they are fuel injected, but since I did the TII swap in my 83 GSL, I don't really care. I guess time will tell

Com'on! You know you wanna keep it! Because one is not enough...
You might walk out spending what, $5-600 on a running car? It costs maybe $40-50 a month to insure? Just keep it and have another nice running 7 in the family

I would like to keep it, but I can spend a few hundred bucks on it, and possibly sell it for $1500 to $2000 when I'm done. Then I will have enough funds to finish my bridgeport.
NICE! Looks like the one I got back in June, except my has the burgundy interior.

I finally got all the little stuff taken care of the last couple of days. So far I have replaced both front calipers. I cleaned up the interior and straightned out both front fenders. The car is running so well, I decided to put a few miles on it today. I drove it about 60 miles. The SE drives and rides so smooth it's rediculous. I believe this will one will remain bone stock. The only mod I have done is the second gen direct fire coil. It starts and runs so much smoother. I should have some updated pics by this weekend.
and shame on you for not uploading those pics
i love the 85 only color of custom silver metallic. thats the next oem restoration on my list. an 85 in custom silver metallic (although its more of a grey...)

I had put about 200 plus miles on the SE so far. I can't believe how well it drives. I got around to recharging the AC also. Drove the car to our local meet and played around. I have some new photo's to add too.

I have started getting all the old goo off from the rub strips. I have all the pieces for the car, but I am going to get all the old adhesive off before it goes back on.

Guys, I know your going to hate me for this, but I traded the SE off last week. I found a '90 vert that the PO swore the engine was blown. Turns out the engine was fine. It had a bad ECU. I traded the guy straight up for it. I love stupid people
. Anywho, here's the vert.

Luck had nothing to do with it. I am always keeping an eye out for those cars with a "bad" engine. Both of these cars had supposedly "blown" engines. The SE had a bad fuel pump and the Vert had a bad ECU. Most people that have a problem with a rotary powered car don't even know what's wrong with them. I repeat, I love stupid people

The Vert is the heaviest second gen. It having an automatic is just par for the course. I have access to a rebuilt trans with a new torque converter for free. The S5 autos have a pretty cool "hold" feture that locks the convertor in whatever gear your in. It makes it a true auto/manual trans. I look at it this way. The auto may not be my cup of tea but it makes the car worth more.
