More renderings of the new Mazda sports coupe to be shown at the Tokyo Auto show later this month.. Some are saying it's just a Miata Coupe and not a rotary powered car.
That's a rendering by someone who's guessing what it might look like, not a Mazda release. And without anything to go on they make the front end it look like every other Mazda, and every other car on the road. I don't like it.
Let's hope Mazda has the good sense to retro the long pointy nose of the SA/FB instead, I'd even like to see a nod to the pop up head lights styling, classics and clean. If they really are putting a wankel in it connecting with the SA/FB heritage would make sense. That rendering isn't it.
Always makes me remember the model kits which Revel put out in the 80's supposedly showing what the "Stealth fighter" (which they called the X19 or F19) was FOR SURE going to look like once it was made public.
The only thing that model had in common with the eventually released F117 was they were both black.
I think the nose will be more like the Mazda 6 and less like the MX-5. The belt line doesn't seem to drop of nearly as much as the MX-5 from the teaser Mazda provided, and the only reason the grill and headlights do not align on the MX-5 (as they do on every other current Mazda) is that the frontal area is too small and it would be pretty awkward. I really hope it's nose is reminiscent of the CX-3, as I think that is the most successful of the Kodo cars yet.
I very much prefer the honest and "stately" look of the majority of current Mazdas compared to the rather squinty and sneerish look of the MX-5; the front of that car has always bugged me.
