They waxed poetic of stock FD3s, and then I scrolled down some more!

From the article:

"Average value in #3 (Good) condition: $7100

Novel rotary powertrain aside, the first-gen RX-7 is a contrast to the later high-tech RX of the ’90s in that it’s relatively simple, easy to find, and cheap. But not quite as cheap as it used to be, it turns out. Average #2 (Excellent) values cracked five figures at the beginning of the year and went up from there."

I kinda expect that in ten years the average SA will be 15-20 grand in "#2 condition"

Great info, but - good Gawd, was that old beater SA the best they can come up with for a pic?? FB moldings (where they are not just missing), chrome (?) door mirrors, raggy old waffles...
Krikey....

I need to find me one soon... I can't afford 5 figures.
I was literally thinking as I logged on that first gens are going to start appreciating soon.
Thanks for sharing.

Nice-looking 79 Limited on ebay right now with bids at $3500.
Bring A Trailer just popped a clean 57Kmi 79 GS for $4100, which was a bit of a deal I think. They are out there. You need to be ready to jump and willing to travel...

I personally do not want RX7s to gain value. Unless it were enough to pay off my mortgage or something I don't plan on selling either of mine because if they get that expensive to purchase I will not be able to afford another one day. It already upsets me that I will probably never own a 3rd gen...

Check out this recent BAT auction:

https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1982-mazda-rx-7-8/

57k Mile GSL was bid up to 9K USD and the reserve was not met.!!

My GS is in similar condition (less documentation...) and I bought it with 62k Miles for $2500 USD around 4-5 years ago.
