What is this part from my 1979 SA?

Hi All,

The pictured part below was in a small box of other little misc parts that came with my recently purchased 1979 RX-7 Limited.

It's apx. 3.5" long x 3/8" wide.

Anyone know what it's for?

Thanks,
Gary

it attaches under the center console lid. stops it at 90 degrees when open.

I think the one in the picture is for the glove box lid. Same design as the center console lid, the glove box one is longer with a bigger radius. A rubber bumper slips on the forked end to dampen it at full open.

THANKS FOR THE INFO! I'll check out the glove box. I know it's working okay, so it must be a spare part.
