Hello all, I'm new to the rotary world. I'm looking for a 13b with the mounting bolts on both sides of the center iron. I've been doing lots of research and i believe it would come from a gsl-se but i'm not 100% certain. if anyone could confirm or inform me of what it is i'm looking for i would greatly appreciate it.

 

All pre-1986 13b engines mount from the front like a 12A. All 13b engines after 1985 mount from the center iron.

i think the GSL-SE or maybe more correctly HB Cosmo mounts like that. the FC i think will have it also, as both engines came in the HB cosmo

 

FC engines (1986-1991) definitely mount on the center iron. FD engines (1993+) do too, I think... but I'd have to dig up some pictures to see. FB 13b engines do NOT

 

I can't speak for FC or FD, but SA/FB cars all mount from the front cover (12A and 13B gsl-se motors).

 

Old 13Bs such as the rx4 etc had provisions for both front cover and side center iron mounts like what you're looking for in your photo. Potentially SP engines as well but I'm not certain, before my time. If you can go a bit higher with the engine I'm sure you could adapt a second gen center/side center/under mount setup as well.

 

thanks for all the replies. since i couldn't find a motor, i have decided to piece one together. i bought a new gsl-se center from atkins and it's just what i needed. more parts are on their way. i figure the best way to lean about something is "hands on."
