Looking to make more power!
I have just recently purchased a 1982 rx7 and want more power. It has a 12a in it currently but I do not think it is entirely stock. I don't know much about this kind of stuff all I know is want it to make more power than it does currently. Any info, tips, or ideas would be greatly appreciated as I am new to this rotary stuff. Thanks!

In this order:
1. Get the car running correctly and smoothly with what you have now.
2. Get the RB long primary exhaust and streetport racing headers.
3. Rework ignition to make it a DFIS.
4. Hog out the nikki for more fun and powar.
5. Better fuel pump to feed hungry nikki.
6. Electric fan.
This should net you about 50% more power for minimal cost.

upload pics of the engine bay and headers and we'll tell you what non-stock things we see
what T_G_F said though. get it running right as is first, then go with mods. DFIS, you can mod your nikki or remove it and the air pump (air pump delete will give you 1% more power ) and get an aftermarket carb like a nice 44mikuni or 45 sidedraft
a good exhaust system will work wonders, true duals all the way if you can afford it, if not even a 2 > 1 system is better than stock header. AC delete will give you another 1% if you don't mind not having ac, plus weight reduction... about 30lbs I recken for the compressor and all the hoses/cooling.
good fuel pump like a holley Red and a FPR before your stock pump goes, and while down there do a fuel filter replacement too.
If you have a GSL already (disc brake rear) then you have 3.9 lsd gears. you could swap to a gslse rear (4.10 gears) or swap to a later model GSL rear (83-85) and then put the SE gears into your rear so you'll retain your 4x110 bolt pattern but get the 4.1 gears for more fasts. I did that second option however I started with a drum rear from '85. it's not discs but w/e the 4.1 lsd gears are nice
e fans and another ~1% gain from taking the clutch fan stress off your engine.
SO theoretically if you did all of this at once and then got in your car to drive it you would notice a pretty nice difference
welcome to the forum! lots of helpful people and information here

Seeing that holley and regulator, I would assume you have a beefier fuel pump. I also see twin
electric fans. Can't see the exhaust manifold so can't tell you anything about that. Your about
half way there although that Holley will not work well on the twisties.
