I bought mine as an investment, they are already running around $200 and everything over 25 years old is going out of stock. Way better than Wall Street on my retirement funds.

Does it matter? Two core is probably more structurally sound, three core might give you more cooling surface. Both give more cooling than you need if the rest of the system is working.

The problem with most of our rads is they are 25 years old and a plugged up or leaking.

This new acdelco has gotta be better than that, 1, 2, 3 or 4 core, what ever it is (I think it's 2. I'll get a pic).

Hope yours is better than mine. I got that same one last year and I've already had to run AlumaSeal in it. The 30 day warranty, of course, had expired.

Mines been running good. But I am basing it off the last radiator I had. With a huge crack that was sealed by prev. owner with superglue and duct tape.

Is that a manual radiator? The one I bought a few years back is generic and has the integral auto tranny cooler so I have the two tubes sticking out of the bottom. Highly annoying.

This one is a convertible for either manual or auto, it has the transmission cooling tubes capped off for use with the manual. The last aftermarket radiator I bought, from radiators.com about 6 years ago, was the same way. That one cost $120 back then but their prices have gone up a lot.

I won't know about the quality until I install it, which could be years from now. But it looks like it's well built and of course it's brand new, so it should give me some good service.

Chuck this is an aftermarket radiator, made by ACDELCO, not Mazda. Not that that matters too much, they are probably all made in China by the same plant.

Ray I see you got that same rockauto email about the close outs I did today

Too bad the SA radiators aren't that cheap.

Yes it matters. Some of the radiators I have found in junkyards have been single core and do not even come close to providing enough surface area to cool a car that actually sees some tracktime. 2 core is just than enuogh. 3 core is piece of mind. Remember Ray i ask because some of us race our cars.

Hey, we got moved. I guess saving money and radiator performance aren't technical issues.

(Or else, the Mods are crazy and capricious, a real possibility).

Good point Hyper, this inexpensive but decent quality radiator ($89 before shipping) would only be recommended for stock or moderately modified cars used on the street.

My point is that any radiator is only going to work as well as it flows and a new unit, whatever its construction, is bound to be much more efficient than an original 25 year old unit that will have build up both within the tubes and between the cooling fins.

If you are having overheating problems due to an old radiator that's not flowing well, this could be an inexpensive solution to your problems. However there are a limited number of units available at this clearance price and in the long run stock replacement units for any car over 25 years old are going to be hard to find - 25 years seems to be the cut off point that most after market suppliers use for discontinuance.

That's why I bought this one for a spare.

This is basically what I was running in my Turbo FB, so it will work just fine in most applications. I did have a 1 core in my turbo car and it wasn't enough to even cool the car at idle. It would sit at 200* with 80* ambiant air temp. Then I swapped in a used cruddy 2 core and the problem went away.
