06-07-11 OGTA Report
Well this was the weirdest OGTA meeting yet. First of all, Crit wasn't there, which was totally weird. And then an FC showed up with a 12 A in it, that used to have a 13B that got transplanted to a Datsun, which also showed up. And that car was totally weird, see photos below.
Anyway, needless to say, there was a lot of controversy about the 12A count, but here's what I got, which is most likely truthful, but incorrect (see Kristy and Holly's subsequent post).
1 RX-2 (Jeremy) = 2 12A's
1 SA (Andrew) = 1.5 12A's
1 12A FC (John) = 2 12A's (I mean, what better way to improve an FC?)
1 13B Datsun (David) = 2 12A's (I mean, how weird can you get?)
5 FB's (Mike, Carlton, Dean, Greg the Younger, Ray) = 5 12A's
1 PrePro (Kristy) = 1 12A (A well deserved upgrade from the earlier rating of 0.75)
1 FC (New Guy Mike from Monroe) = 0.5 12A's
1 FD = 1 12A (Can't remember his name, but that car is totally cool)
3 FE's (Holly, Tommy, Billy) = less than 1 12A (Holly I'll let you figure this one out but I'm estimating 1)
No Pistons = No 12A's (nice work OGTA's!)
Total 12A Equivalent Turn Out = 16 12A's. The hard way.
Here's the photos:
Jeremy's magnificent RX-2:
Andrew's SA with a custom paint job obtained by pressure washing it's last paint job and a Stripped Nikki:
John's 12A FC (Notice the FD wheels. He's got the best of all three generations going on in one car; yes that's a 600 Holley)

Yep you would have enjoyed this one Tim.
The Datsun actually has a fuel injected 13B in it.
It had a turbo 12A in it last week but they took that out to put in another car and then pulled the EFI 13B from the GXL and put it in the Datsun. Then to make the GXL run again they took another 12A off the shelf, slapped a Holly on it and stuck it in the GXL. First FC I've ever seen with the 12A upgrade.
I know, it's confusing. It was a very weird meeting.

lol. Looks like you guys had a great time. I'm so jealous!!!
Questions:
1. What's the deal with the fuel filter in the engine bay (Andrew's car)? Hard to tell in the pic, but looks to be hooked up at only one end. And I can see both of the fuel lines, and it isn't connected to either of them as far as I can tell.
2. Okay, the fd. Am I losing it? or is there this big assed intercooler mounted behind the radiator? Am I missing something? lol
3. I admit it, you've got me curious about that hose on Dean's car.
Keep up the good work guys, you're really starting to fill that parking lot up...

Here's what I got so far:
1. (from Gene) Filter is being used as filter for the center iron in Andrew's SA.
2. (from Holly) I don't own the car and I'm not a dude, but that is a big *** intercooler. You cannot see the radiator in this pic, but Richard still has the stock radiator. He's already purchased an aluminum radiator to install next.
3. (from me) I think (but I'm not sure) that Dean is using those hoses to vent his crankcase. If you follow the last one that he has connected it looks like it runs down to the base of the oil filler tube
4. Michael, John's 12A FC has an FC ignition set up, you can just see the coils sticking up behind the brake master in these photos
I think David has something similar going on in his 13B Datsun, although I can't quite figure out where he stuck the coil pack
Southerners have always been on the creative side when it comes to cars.

that's a totally different hose connected to that fuel filter. looks like it might connect to one of the nipples on the center iron. and ur right, big *** intercooler on the wrong side of the rad.
how they got the 12a in the fc running with no ignitor wiring or dizzy cap?
how they got the 12a in the fc running with no ignitor wiring or dizzy cap?
and is using the signal from the dizzy to trigger some ignitors. I'll take a guess and
say HEIs. Could be using any sort of coil but Ford TFIs would be a good choice

On the FD, they call it a v-mount intercooler. The radiator is re-positioned so that they meet in a v looking position. It lets the intercooler and radiator sort of stack on one another, so they both get fresh cool air. Its a solution if your monster intercooler blocks too much air to the radiator.
I get the feeling many people do it to look cool, but if done correctly (which seems tough), it's supposed to be the best of both worlds, big FMIC, big radiator, neither missing out on fresh cool air.
