How much is it worth? (12a content)
So I have a 79 RX7 with a body that is junk. Its been sitting out in a field for the last 15 years. The engine is a PP 12A with a Weber carburetor and a no name header. I am wondering what the engine and transmission is worth? I know I can get a couple of hundred bucks for the body once I get the engine out. I am not able to get the engine to turn over. The rabbits in the area have been chewing on the wires. But I do know the engine is not locked up. I am going to keep the engine and transmission for a project later on. If I can get the starter to at least turn I can check compression on it, but I need to sort out the wiring at least that far first.

So to actually finish the rambling thoughts in the previous post, ClubRX7, how much is the engine and transmission worth, not knowing if it will run? I am going to buy this from a friend, he is asking 700 dollars. Is this a fair price?

$200.00 tops until you know if the compression is good. Since all the fabrication is mostly in the
housings, if the compression is blah then its not worth very much since theres no easy way to
renew a gouged, flaking housing. Depending on how they dealt with the irons, they may not
be usable in non-PP application. So that $200.00 is basically for the webers and intakes and
exhaust

PP stuff depends, as the market is small. if you really wanted good moneys you are better off pulling the engine, taking it apart and selling it as a package.
depending on who made the housings, and which intake and weber it is, it might be worth big bucks or small bucks.
for instance, an italian 48 IDA might bring $300-$400 (new spanish ones are $499).
if the rotor housings are good, and MFR, people will beat down your door to get them. if the housings aren't great and custom, maybe you get $500?
additionally you may wanna get it running, and drive it the PP is huge fun, and it can be quite tame

lol, quite easy . there is a guy trying to sell made in italy 48ida's for like $800, but you can buy a brand new one, which is spanish made for $499. apparently the spanish ones aren't quite as good, but i don't know what that is based on. can we go to both places and check?
