High Mileage 7's
Who's got the high mileage champ on this board? My '85 FB is just turning 100,000 miles and I am interested in hearing how long I have before I start to experience the need for a rebuild. Who's got high miles going for them?

178,000 miles, 12A with dowel pin oil leak...still stock, unopened, slight smoke at start-up, goes away in 5 minutes, passed inspection, idles at 550 RPM, revs to 7600 rpm, dyno'd at 7200 rpm steady state, still OK, I reckon, gets 17.5 mpg with unrebuilt Nikki carb and stock exhaust...

100,000 miles is young for a first gen, I've only had one below that, my white 84 GSL, which had 82,000 when I got it a couple years ago and is now pegging 127,000. The others:
The brown 85 GLS, 178,000 (retired, good engine)
The tan 84 GSL, 148,000 (retired, good engine)
The silver 85 GSL, 106,000 (the future, great engine)
When I first got into RX7s about 7 years ago, I figured I'd be having to rebuild an engine, probably sooner than later, but it hasn't happened yet and I'm guessing it probably never will.
My friend Mike has 240,000+ on his 85 GS(L) and it runs great, still on the original engine.

mines is at about 170k miles, over heated, still racing the same motor in 100 degree weather redline and racing with teh temp needle in the middle of the gauge...yea...im abusive but for some reason its still so strong. na 13b's are strong, but my 12a freakin bullet proof.

I got 242K on my GSL-SE. Untouched engine and transmission, but a lot of the other stuff has been fixed at some point or another. Before I started driving it last year, it had pretty much been used solely as a commuter since it was bought in '85 and has been totally babied...
