GSLSE IGNITER TROUBLE (maybe)

Okay! I’ve only been into cars for maybe 5 years and only been into the mechanics of it all until about 2 years ago so be patient with dumdum.

about a year ago my dumb self toasted my 13b in my 5letter. I just got around to rebuilding my engine and it is currently fully assembled and in my car and running.

the car is completely stock except for the exhaust. I put a racing beat exhaust on the car and on first start I ran the car WITHOUT an O2 sensor, so when the car was really loud and nasty sounding up front I assumed it was due to that huge opening on the header being, well.... open.

I got my O2 sensor hooked up and the sound persists and Im now noticing that the header is glowing red hot after minutes or idling (3min ish)

I assume that it’s due to excessively retarded timing and that also has something to do with why it’s so damn loud at my headers? Like the combustion is possibly even carrying over into the exhaust chamber. Let’s also note now that my car is idling high (like 1800 to 2000rpm)

I hook up my timing light and start turning my dizzy and the light shows the mark on my front cover is right on the yellow mark when idling. I can raise the idle speed sky high (by further pulling the timing I think) but I can’t get the rpms to drop much at all before the car dies.

is it an igniter, is it my timing? I know the pulley is on the correct way because I went over it about 1 billion times. When I stabbed the dizzy I lined the dimple up with the dot and the arrow pointed towards the oil fill cap. Idk man
CAN SOMEONE HELP ME!?

Vacuum leak hidden by the noise is my guess.
