Seems we all got a little Bump with this one...at least for the nicer ones. Trend or Outlier? Next few sales will tell...

As much as I want to believe the car could set a trend for sales, I don't think that it will. Its a one off. The guy got super lucky. And personally, I'm hoping the values don't increase dramatically as then these cars will no longer be affordable.sports cars. I think reasonably the car should have gone for closer to $10k.

I know a guy locally that I see at cars events and he has many datsun Zs and big three hotrods and pony cars. He told me one time that he's now looking to collect 1st gen RX7s like mine. I think he was serious. I asked him to hold off until I could get one more LOL.

The trend is definitely up but how steep is the real question. I agree this one is probably an extreme case.

Speaking of the Datsuns, I am almost certain that of all sports cars with a following our RX-7s are the most under-represented for restoration parts. A quick look gives the 240z guys the luxury of , say reproduction door cards.

yep. And a lot more Z stuff as well. Blackdragonauto came the closest in aftermarket. and they are kaput, so we seem to be orphaned. And with fewer RX7s on the road ever year, one could extrapolate its not likely to improve. I think a big factor is going to be scarcity of basic engine components (like housings). We have a sort of unique problem in that there are few options to just keeping replacement motors in our cars, never mind unobtainium like trim. frustrating...
