flywheel socket

so a few months ago i bought an FC with a blown engine. i wanted to tear it down but i didnt want to buy the flywheel socket for 50 bucks and just said screw it after not finding any local. well the other day i was browsing thru the local TSC and came along a 2 1/8" socket and 2 feet away was a sign saying "new line of tools" for a WHOPPING $16.94 USD! hope it helps.

I can't remember how much I paid for my socket, but it definitely was much closer to 16 dollars than it was to 50.

+1 I got mine at Sears for around 25 bucks and got some 1/2 to 3/4 adaptors so I could use it with my 1/2 impact wrench.

I got the BFW from MazdaTrix ages ago, when they were reasonably priced. Socket welded directly to a 3-ft, 1/4" x 1.5" steel bar.

You can jump up and down on it, if need be.

I got the one from racingbeat. Paid for itself many times over, I think I have about 10 or 12 teardowns and rebuilds on it thus far. Plus, when you are done using the socket side for the flywheel nut, you can use the other side to pop off the flywheel!

LETS SEE YOUR SOCKETS DO THAT

Me too but I've never had a failure with the twelver. Some used flywheel nuts are pretty chewed up from prior chiseling which can make a corner not straight.

That YouTube vid is a hoot when looking back at all the "men" on the forum who can't seem toget their flywheels off.

I got hosed when I bought my flywheel socket at O'Reileys. Paid 52 bucks for it. A week later I saw it at Sears for 25. Needless to say, I was not a happy camper.
