wow that's so sad about what happened, sorry for your lost. I am really happy to see that you and RX7 is not too badly injured. Your rx7 gave me so much inspiration and knowledge to fix mine up. Its really nice seeing how help full these members are I wish you all the best to get your ride back up and going.

Update:

Early last week I hooked up with the guy I needed to find. He works at a major dealership during the day, handling frame alignement and body repair. He also has a full shop at home, including a full frame setup. He uses this mostly to straighten race cars that get banged up on the local 1/4 mile paved oval track. A friend who races at that track told him my situation, and handled all of the arrangements for me. He came and picked my car up, drove it the 50 some miles to the guy, then returned it to me this evening. Total cost was $300.00 which was 2 bills for the work, and 1 for the pickup/delivery.

I've only had a quick look at her before I came in to work tonight, in the dark, with a flashlight, but by all appearances she is back into perfect shape. The body parts have been partially mounted, meaning that I have to put the rest of the bolts in, but everything lines up perfectly.

Its going to be a very busy week, but I'll try to get some photos of her when I get a chance.

As Arnold would say "Chill'.

I was just poking fun at Kentetsu for his shot earlier in the thread.

I'll have to! I managed to beg rides in 1st gen RX7s for the last two races, but if I keep beating guys in their own cars I won't have that option much longer.

It will be very nice to be behind the wheel of my own car again....

I guess that "technically", the car is back on the road now. All body parts are mounted except for the passenger side headlight. And the car was still driveable before the repairs were made (mechanically speaking). All I would have to do is insure it and register it, and I could be driving it now. However, with winter right around the corner, she'll be sitting snug in the garage until spring arrives.

As far as painting goes, I would love to do it myself but I have to be realistic in regards to my time restraints. So, with that in mind, I will probably be looking to have someone do it for me. Now that I've got connections with the racing crowd, I'm hoping to find a deal for a "decent" paint job. Not looking to win any awards, but I do want it to look as nice as it can without spending a fortune.

That's awesome how your car is coming back together. I know it's kinda late in the game but if your still looking for a roller I saw a red 84" a week ago complete with targa band that could be picked up for a song. It's an auto though and the engine is reportedly not running.

Thanks man, but I'm all set. I did consider getting another chassis, but the thought of swapping everything over was a bit intimidating. And, realistically, it would not have gotten done due to my time constraints. I work about 70 hours a week, and have a wife and three sons, so time is a pretty valuable commodity for me.

Kentetsu.... you need to get that thing together man! I am gonna come up there next year with "project cheap autocrosser"... It's gonna be a SHOWDOWN!!

Anyhoo, seriously... Take the car to Maaco. They did an EXCELLENT job on my RX-7 for cheap. If you do all the prep, they can deliver. Helps to talk to the guys and let them know this is not some beater and you want it right.

See you soon man! Tell Jeffy howdy!!

Let me know when you're bringing "project cheap autocrosser" to Michigan. I'm down.

I'll be up for it. I won a set of 84 struts on eBay, so looks like I'll be up and running in the spring. Can't wait to see how the sticky Hankooks make the car feel. You might actually have some competition from me.

Congrats Chris. Get that thing up and running and get your butt over here for some autocross action.
