Wow, very glad you're OK! That's pretty terrible, but fortunately none of the damage looks too bad. Best of luck getting her fixed

the damage isn't too bad to repair. looks to be mostly just sheet metal. the big question will be answered when the fender, light bucket, and center panel are pulled off. there may be slight damage under those areas but nothing too bad to repair.

Yeah, I'm keeping my hopes up. The doc put me on bed rest and doped me up for the next few days due to neck and back pain. It will be a while before I can work on her, but I'll post up the results when I can....

Man I'm really sorry to see this happening to you, but as the others said glad you are ok. Hopefully they catch that SOB....
I know you've had other offers already but should they all happen to fall through I have most of the front end parts you need and you'd be welcome to them!

Glad to hear you (and everyone else) are OK.

My dad (who tried to mow the lawn at Grattan) and I commented how we hate the drive back on labor day - knowing the traffic will suck.

OK Mark - whatever I can do to help - I know there are two FB's at the LKQ u-wrench yard in Holland , I'll be happy to help you pull some parts if needed.

As far as the Sept 18 FG autocross in Muskegon - just PLAN on running my car.
I'll be happy to come pick you up that morning.

Let me know - you've got my cell and e-mail ( I think)

Same here, happy to hear you are OK! Since you are going to have to replace those fenders, I guess this is a good time to consider buying that wide body kit?

Glad you are OK!!

Someone needs to do a DMV search for gold Aleros in the area... and then check for damages on them! Bastard.

Glad to hear you and everyone else are alright Kentetsu. I understand the insurance laws up there are not really equivocal. Hope it won't cost you to fix other people's cars.

I wondered why Gus has been down in the dumps lately. I guess he knew something happened to his twin brother up north. Sorry to see that this happened, but definitely glad you're ok. Thankfully the damage doesn't look too severe. Like Dave said, it looks like a lot of sheet metal work.

Just something to keep in mind as you go along with the revival process: If you need to repaint body panels to match, but don't want to spend a fortune get yourself a spray can of Rustoleum Sunrise Red. I painted an entire fender with it one time and I literally could not tell that I had painted it. It was that good of a match. I was stunned. Reds are HARD to match, and I'm very picky by nature anyway. But I couldn't believe when I put the fender back on. It was a dead on match. Here are some before and afters. The afters aren't the greatest photography due to the shade from the trees, but you can sort of get an idea. These are Rosie, my old 1983 GS. She was also a sunrise red like our 85's are.

Thanks Jeffy, I'll probably take you up on the offer to run your car at that event.

Hammy, that does look like a good match. I've never found a color that matched even close.

Forum Member Waldog (not even from this section) found a red '85 in Soutbend Indiana. He's going to pull all of the parts for me, and meet me halfway. That's a hell of a thing for a stranger to do for you. I guess he blew a rear end in the past, and a member gave him one to get him back on the road again. So he's passing it along now.

All of you guys just plain ROCK!

Last I saw of the guy was his tail lights going down the empty stretch of highway. He must have been the first car to make it past the accident scene. To my knowledge, he has not been caught.

But then, if he had stopped, I would most certainly killed the SOB. So maybe it's for the best in the long run...

Oh wow Kent, I'm relieved to hear that you're OK other than the soreness buddy. My first thoughts were not good, our little cars don't like being hit but I'm grateful you've got only minor injuries. As for frame damage, a Durango hit my FB in the LF and rode over the top like that SUV did with yours. Though the damage didn't look bad, it had indeed bent the frame where the bumper dampers bolt on.

I'm reminded again why I love being a part of the rx7 community, all the outpouring of support and offers to help by strangers are what makes our community great.

Thanks Nick. I was going to call you last night but forgot about it in my medicated haze. A forum member down in Southbend is pulling parts for me off of a red car, and then he'll meet me halfway to deliver them. That way, I won't have to repaint the car after I finish the repairs. But thank you for the offer, I knew I could count on you when the **** hit the fan. I will let you know if I don't get everything that I need. Thanks again man....

That's a hell of a coincidence. It was a Durango that drove over my hood too.

Well, even if she is bent, there is a world renowned frame shop just around the corner from my house. I'll keep hoping for the best....
