Exciting Changes At ReSpeed

ReSpeed has some exciting news for 2011 and we wanted to make this
post to let you all know about it.

As of March 2011, Sam Hammoudeh (AKA dj55b on the forums) has taken
over operations of the manufacturing and shipping of the ReSpeed
product line. Sam’s manufacturing company is based in London, ON
Canada and will introduce the added benefit of a store front for the
ReSpeed line and the customers.

Sam and I have been working on this transformation for over six months
and feel it to be a huge positive for the ReSpeed line in all aspects.
More of the manufacturing can now be handled in house which allows for
increased prototyping and new product offerings. The store front
aspect allows for product installations and a broader group of
offerings by the brand. Strategically placing the shipping hub for the
manufactured items in London relieves the Canadian customers of
inbound duties while not increasing the cost for the USA nor overseas
customers. Many of the brand name items will still be shipped from our
USA warehouse.

Sam has many great ideas for increased products within the ReSpeed
line as well as additional vehicle coverage. Many of you have followed
Sam and his post throughout the years and understand he has the
dedication and forward thinking needed to build upon the product line.
Through heavy planning, the transition has been seamless to the
customers and has been fully completed. We strive for each and every
one of our customers to have a positive experience and you were the
highest priority.

I have enjoyed developing products and building a company that serves
the greatest group of automotive enthusiast around. When the ReSpeed
line started in 2004 it was in reaction to fill a need within a
forgotten set of unique vehicles. Thanks to a great group of customers
it is accomplishing that and has grown each and every year since. I
set out on a mission to offer top quality products with the respect
and honesty you guys and gals deserve. Introducing the standards and
methodologies from professional level motorsports into our products
was and will continue to be our flair.

As I have accepted a new position that requires my day to day
attention I will not be able to give to the ReSpeed line what it
deserves. The opportunity was simply too great to pass up and is
something I have been striving for and building up to for years. I
will still be involved with the product line and new part development.
You will still see me active on the forums as time permits and will
still be happy to answer any technical PMs . After all I have been a
rotorhead since the late eighties, and as we all know, that does not
subside easily.

A sincere and deep thank you to all the customers, past and future,
that have help build a truly unique company and product line. I know
that without you ReSpeed would not be alive.

See you at the track!
Billy Waits

Hey Guys,

I know its one of those things that may seem hard to believe because it sounds too good but it really is happening!

I'm still finishing up a few things at the shop but hope to be fully done by the end of the week. Until then, there won't be any real business hours or anything. When everything is finalized I would like to maybe hold a meet sometime shortly after that either right here at the shop or somewhere near by with a bigger parking lot. We will most likely also wait a bit till the weather warms up so more people show up. I'll post up some pictures of the shop when I'm done.

As Billy mentioned we have been working long and hard to make this happen as seamless as possible and I hope we have achieve that. I will be doing all the welding in house now and also most of the lathe work. I would like to bring in the mill work in here, just need to find a good machine at a good price to do it with. Having all the machines and welding in house will also enable us to make custom piece for customer that are bringing their cars here to be worked on and also should reduce the 2-3 week shipping time shipping time on the built to order RE-Speed parts

Also as mentioned, new product and car type coverages will be available. Some of the biggest RX-7 parts that I'll be working on are the Rotrex Supercharger that I have already started a thread for here somewhere, and secondly a direct replacement fuel cell / tank for first gens vehicles. The plans for the tanks are to have at least 2 version (direct stock replacement with no additional baffling than stock, and a race version to give you the best on the track without hopefully cutting out on fuel in turns). To make the tanks even more exciting and customizable, interchangeable tops will be available to give you the option to run in tank or external fuel pumps and barb or AN fittings. We will try to make them meet FIA standards for the people requiring that certification, but no promises until we start developing the tanks and seeing how things will turn out. Other vehicles will include the RX8, and possibly Mazda 2 parts but that may not run under the RE-Speed name as it doesn't apply well unless we toss a rotary in there!

Me and Billy will still be in touch (Probably mostly to help me learn a bit more of the RX2 and RX3 product line as they are the ones I'm not the most familiar with having never played around with them), and have become good friends over the years and I'm sure many more years ahead from now on.

I look forward to this great new opportunity to help out more rotor heads and I hope I can maintain my standard of knowledge of our cars as high as Billy has set the bar for me.

Forgot to state in there that the new email address to contact me is:

shqemanufacturing@gmail.com

There will be a dedicated shop number as well as the one listed which is my cell phone number, you can send me text messages also if you wish on there if that is cheaper for some people instead of calling.

Billy, does this mean that you sold ReSpeed to Sam? Does this also mean that there is a good chance that prices will be going up? I think the new owner should have a few nice group buys to kick this thing off. I want a new rack and pinion and a set of axles for the big brake kit.

I want to see these new fuel tanks. Those would be a great product and help a lot of people looking to do a TII swap. Se tanks ate probably getting harder to find and if you live in an area like me it's hard enough finding an rx7 let alone an se.

Yes that is correct in saying I bought RE-Speed. Pricing for everything on the website should all stay exactly where they stand. Group buys may happen in the near future, just keep your eyes and ears open . I just need to get through the next couple of weeks to get things fully sorted out first on my end. I do not want to overwhelm myself with orders right now and have to compromise quality for quantity. That just isn't the RE-Speed way as we all have become to know it. Quality and satisfaction of customers are always and will always remain our first priority.

Indeed, and if you do find one, the odds of it leaking from the center seams are high, and if its not that, they're filled with gunk. At least that has been my experience with a lot of these gas tanks.

Good news and congrats. I think there is a still a big need for some old school parts for the RX2 and RX3 such as RX2 front and rear struts for road and drag racing and street.

This sure sounds exciting! I know I'll catch up with Billy at the Mitty on all this.

If I don't see you there Sam, good luck on the new venture and keep the ReSpeed faith.

wow .... very cool development . You have a solid reputation and excellent brand to live up to . Hope you can take it to a new level

Sam , I like this hint of a high performance Tank solution . Any chance I can get a new designed tank/fuel delivery solution for my T2 project underway to fit the '79/80 tank shape?

I'm sure that will be in there, but I will most likely need a gas tank from that car to laser scan and make a model off that.

Sam, I would be interested in a tank with an in tank pump for a turbo swap but it always depends on price/availability.

wow, just wow. I am happy for both parties. Also as I have a couple current orders I assume they will be arriving from the old shop? I too will be looking forward to tank technology for the 79-80 cars. I am checking my tank in a few months to see if it is salvageable enough to put a sump in it since my fuel pump is external. I know it is a long way off but do you have any estimate on when you will be closer to beginning to offer new products?

This is great new guys! Billy, congratulations on your new position. It sounds very exciting, and I'm sure you will thrive in your new setting.

Also, I don't think you could've made a better choice for your replacement. Sam and I have raced together, he has stayed in my home and sat by my bonfire. He is a really great, friendly, and pleasant individual. And his technical skills are beyond question as well.

Congratulations to both of you, and I look forward to your future developments.

Very stoked to hear some of the manufacturing is moving to Canada. I wont have to pay duties and outrageous broker fee's! This pleases me profusely.

Good luck in the change over. I've always followed Sams threads, and I think his creativity is really going to enhance an already stellar product line.

Looking foreword to doing business down the road!
