The Grand Rapids Metro Cruise will take place the weekend following Detroit's Dream Cruise. The two events are very similar, but the GR event tends to be less crowded (= less time stuck in traffic). August 26th - 28th.
Our local club, Furrin Group, is also planning to have autocross races Friday and Saturday nights as part of the festivities. The lot we are looking at has great visibility, and is right on the main cruise route. This will be a Charity event, with passengers paying for rides during the race.
If anyone is coming from out of town, and would like to camp at my place, just let me know. My place is about 3 blocks from the cruise route, and my back yard is like a private park (very nice for camping).
I may try to organize a BBQ or something over the weekend as well as part of a Rotary Meet, depending on interest.

I'm going to try, but I make no promises. I have CAA now but I'm still paranoid and have little faith in my car making it that far. It's still making strange noises that I haven't had time to check them all out. Will let you know.

What is CAA? Is it contagious? Hope you're feeling better soon...

Well actually, for some reason I thought I had more time. I'll be working most likely Friday and Saturday, so I'm not making this one. Really annoyed but the truck was in the shop until tonight so I had no choice but to wait for it, so that's going to push me into a late work week. I'm starting to think I'll never get to race again.

Sorry to hear that Chris. How about Labor Day (September 5th)? We'll be having an autocross at Grattan Racetrack, which is awesome. Shoot me a PM for details if you like.
I'll kill a Miata for you this weekend.

How did you end up doing?
Sorry for not being able to make it up again, if there was a way to get another passport or anyway to get me across the border I would of.

How did I do? Check the thread right below this one titled "FTD Baby". FTD means fastest time of the day, which means I beat everybody. This was on Friday, which was technically just a test and tune, but everybody was trying their hardest anyway.
On Saturday, I wasn't able to catch the Vette that took FTD, and had to settle for 2nd place overall. But that still means I beat my Nemesis (the supercharged miata on 255 Hoosiers), and his nemesis, a late model MR2 which is also highly modified. Plus the usual crowd of normal Miatas, Subarus, VWs, etc. And I still won PAX, which some people consider to be more important than overall time.
Sam, next Monday (labor day) is an autocross at a very nice road track. If there is any way you could make that, shoot me a PM. Chris is planning on coming over for it, so maybe you could hide in his storage bin or something if you haven't got your passport by then.
And I want to thank you and Billy for all the advice and support these last few years. Putting these tires on my old suspension would've been like hanging pearls on a pig. lol. Even with the massively improved traction, the car was ready for it and handled amazingly. So well balanced, slides on demand, quick response, I could probably go on for a while here... A few people commented on how smooth I seemed, and that the car seemed to go through the slaloms without even touching the pavement. I couldn't have done this without you guys.
And also Sterling. Who'd have thought that the fastest car at an event like this would be carb'd? The power that I'm getting out of this stock port 12a and RB exhaust is simply criminal! If this carb ever dies, I think I'll have to stop driving and buy a mule to ride to work. lol.

Hi Mark,
I can't guarantee that I'll be able to make it to that one.
As for the "thread below", I actually just search previous threads and respond accordingly, I don't always go to every section and see
.
PS: You'll be receiving a box sometime

Hope you can make it, and thanks Sam.
Here is a video one of the club members shot during this event (not sure if this will work, since it is from Facebook):
