Cupholder?
Anyone have an idea (or better yet pics) of where to rig up a cupholder or two in our cars. Dunno if the fb's havem but the sa's have an excuse for cuploders on the glovebox door, which are pretty much tiny circular indentations which do nothing. Ive seen the universal ones at autozone, but am wandering if there is a way to make them less obvious. Any help is welcome. Thanks

Bingo.
Cut that out. I felt behind my glovebox (its dark outside) and I can feel the back of the dash.
Insert this:

In there. I haven't given it a good look over behind the dash, but I am sure you will need to add a small bracing back there, or a rod to prop it against the top of the glovebox (not the inside top the outside), so when you have a full cup o' coffee it won't tip it over onto your passenger lap.
EDIT: smaller picture, easier viewing

c'mon guys, open your glovebox.....there's a spot for two drink holders right on the door. seriously though, thats why you have a passenger. or buy drinks that have a cap. i've seen a few guys use those cup holders that slide between the window and the door. those seem to be pretty effective.

Black Dragon/Victoria British has that collapsible one. Maybe it can be rigged to slide out where the ashtray is.
I read some other guy uses an old rotor to hold the drinks up on the floor.

you could rig up one of those slide out ones in the glovebox...sure you'd have to open the glovebox to use it, but you wouldn't have to cut the parts and it would be out of the way. Mount it just inside on the top so the drinks have room to slide down in it...

yeah, I saw that earlier in the thread. Great idea for my SA's, but what about my FB? I'll check the fit by taking the ashtray out of the SA and try to fit it in the same place on the console of my 83...probably a perfect fit! I only throw change in that anyway and I'm always broke...problem solved!!

No need to be deprived of a very functional and versatile cup holder that holds two cups and has another compartment for change.
My wife bought me this one at Walmart, has been working great for several years, holds my coffee every morning and nothing has ever spilled:
It simply slips in between the console and passenger seats, all for about $4.00:

I usually end up using a Wendy's or Tim Hortons cardboard cup holder. I sit it on the passenger floor and wedge one corner under the seat adjuster handle. Works well unless I take a corner too fast. I have yet to actually spill one that way though, they usually just tip a bit. I was considering making one that would mount to the right side of the stereo surround. That way it would be out of my way, but also in reach. Maybe we should ask Billy to come up with something. It is after all, his job to make things for our cars. I've never trusted all those Type-S products, ie: cupholders, ashtrays etc etc. they look cheap and flimsy to me. My car bounces around enough, it wouldn't shock me if they let go with a full cup of something in them.

i believe that some users a very while ago have used older generation ford taurus pop out cup holders and put them where the little cubby box under the stereo surround goes. i think it might run into the shifter but somebody might have modified one to make it work.
